I made a wheely trolley for my Milford grinder...



Then almost immediatly decided it's far too tall so now I've got to shift all 120kg of it onto the floor and build a new one .

I'm gonna buy a crane one day.

If you under-sling the cross members, you should be able to get it close to floor height, assuming you're using the same castors that is.

An engine crane might not be a bad idea, i have been lifting a bridgeport vari-speed head up and down (in two parts), it weighs 170lb (77 new fangled kilos) to fit it to my mill. And an engine crane is something i really could have used.

If you mean what I think, the cross braces have to be moved too far in to allow the castors to turn fully. It's on the floor now after rocking it back and fourth with progressively fewer blocks under it.

I thought that might be an issue, but you could place a small platform across them. It'll only increase the height by 25mm if you can find a decent piece of plywood.

Today I made a tyre mountain, dragged out twenty years worth of all the old truck,tractor and trailer wheels/tyres from all the nooks and crannys around the place , demounted them ready for the recycle mob to collect.

This is about half of them

And a nice supply of Ali for when I get the smelting pot fired up

Made a cam for the eccentric clamp for my lathe steady. Started by putting a piece of stainless bar in the 4 jaw and clocking it to 0.095" total runout.

Then in the 3-jaw to turn one end journal

Then cut it off and put the turned end in the collet chuck to turn the other end

This end is longer to leave room for the flats to turn it

Tomorrow's work is to turn up the missing bush and cut flats on the end of the cam

Good morning gents summery of my past two weeks.
Turned a ex army Scania truck from army green to white, didn't take any pics though Turned out quite good, so have been informed.
Next got a boat on the slip to cleanup the bottom and look at the stern bearing, bearing OK but found some 'snot with teeth'


Had to do some chipping to open them up and some compressed air through a thin plastic tube and blew the criters out
then some epoxy glued and screwed, good an new.


Have some small props to paint and prepare to be collected tomorrow, also done

Seems that I am having trouble with pics to load up. Will try later

Now lets see if the borers can get to this now. Vessel hull painted with epoxy clear three times, should be almost borer proof now

now some props coated with 'Prop Speed'
