Needed a bit extra to miss the punch placements.

I'll probably chop off a bit to lower the height, but camera perspective makes it look higher and larger than it actually is. If I had a knurling tool, I'd turn the hex to round and knurl a pattern, but I don't have one of 'them thars', so I can't [yet ].

Going off topic a bit [but related in the 'stuff I made' theme] I remember a member here made a holder for his QCTP inserts which I might want to copy as I've got six in total. I've done a search but can't find his post, which had pics iirc. Anyone help finding it?

No knurling tool .. feel like messing around & doing some counting ?
I suspect you can get a reasonable grip if you play on a bit of scrap cutting a fine left & right hand threads using divisions on an old electric saw blade fitted to the rear of the spindle as the start points
I'm fortunate for I have an old Black & Decker 100 toothed electric saw blade that I can fit on the rear of the spindle to give me 100 different start points

Aye, that's right. Rather than having them in a box or suchlike, even though 'pre-loaded'.

A length of OGEE plastic guttering with or without end caps set on three gutter brackets or screwed at three or more points direct to a wooden batten running along the easily accessible work area length above your lathe at the back is how I store my QCTH's so I can see at glance what cutter I need.

I can get five of my AXA 2 holders with the cutters on the " shelf " .
If I find anther matching bit of scrap gutter I might be inclined to add a second shelf and on both shelves use the band saw to cut off almost half of the front wall so as to allow two easily accessible shelves in a smaller space .

I would leave it plain rather than knurling it. Knurling's fine for things that turn but you'll end up with your hand knurled too on something you pull on ( no childish remarks thank you ).

Kill the high points on any knurling by turning the part under a stick coated in medium emery cloth or a fine file , then you hands will stay as soft as the fairy washing up liquid suds.

I manage to score extrusion fits over the cross member.
With a little reshaping.

You can just see the propane tank tucked away under the drill stand, the hose screwed to the wall with some scraps of ali and a few loops around the hanger should keep it out of the way but still to hand.

That's something I need to do for mine.

Depth stops are better when they have a gap underneath. When you slide your wood along, dust will go under the stop and not hold your timber away from the stop. Saves cleaning after every cut.
