It took a while but got finished fitting the mast and wiring up the lights etc.
Pics not great as it was starting to get dark.
Personally I would have had the aerials sloping with the mast but the skipper wanted them more upright.

Something different for me, I was asked this morning by the Boatyard to design a staircase. So sat down a few hours ago to see what I could come up with. I have never done anything like this before but the house builder wanted steel sides and also didn't want a spiral stair but wanted an angular type of design. The space seemed a bit tight to me at first but I have something worked out, will just have to see if it is what they want, if so then the plasma will be used to cut out the sides.

Smart skipper, sod the "go faster look" of windswept antennas, having them vertical means they work better.

Found even more tools I never knew the hubby had.

Went into a bike shop a couple of years back that had a wee sign by the till saying that if you stuck a fiver in the charity tin on the counter they'd give you a receipt for the amount you'd told your wife you'd spent on bike bits

I'm knocking out some arbor blanks for my gear hobbing machine. These bits hold the gear blanks for cutting. The Mikron uses a bespoke taper and it's taken be several attempts to get the compound set just right so now I've got it set I'm going to churn out a handful of arbors.

Making them from 316 stainless because I happen to have a couple of scrap lengths of it, you get a lovely finish straight off the tool and you never have to worry about it rusting.

That would be a spiral staircase, which they don't want.

Finally got my latest version of a press brake finished (or at least usable) now I can do folds up to 1m long.







The hardest part is making the bottom vee but I had a cunning plan and it worked a treat.

I know the feeling. My best mate was visiting recently [before he knew about the in-coming milling machine! ] and we were out in the shed. After looking about for a minute he asked what was going to happen "to all this stuff" - my reply? "I don't care, I'll be dead" [my family are like yours, they don't understand and certainly won't want to keep any of the 'stuff'.

Today if the weather behaves I will mostly be trying to smooth off the first coat of knifing putty from a very small patch at the bottom of the boot lid on the car, watching the qualifying of the F1 GP then catching up on other jobs before I collapse through lack of sleep. I'm like the Duracell Bunny for part of the day, then.......

Friday nights I'm lucky to get a couple of hours because of steroids I have to take on Fridays - just can't switch my brain off, which is apparently a known side effect of this particular drug. It also accounts for the list of 'projects' I've acquired......

But hey, it's helping to keep me alive!

3 boys 7,4 and 18 months. There all in awe of the garage and tools and show keen interest in it.

Eldest has his sights set on some kind of engineering.

I was thinking that about my cousin's youngest, he loves military vehicles, so I was planning on leaving my jeep to him when I die, I've took him out in it a few times and he's always had a blast. Sadly now his mum reports he's lost all interest in it as he's found out about girls...

I designed a spiral staircase up to the third floor in the house we built in the Philippines. Drew it all up to scale in Sketchup, but at the last minute decided against it.

And I was so glad eventually. Going up and down a spiral staircase is a pain after the novelty wears off. Carrying things up one is a chore, moving furniture..... having a laugh now.

We decided on two basic simple staircases in concrete eventually. I did all the steelwork myself.
