Interesting to see differing construction methods.

How do you find the gassless gun on 90mm rimshanks mine seems to struggle.

Only shot 75 mm but it's like piercing butter

Finally got a couple of hours on the big hut yesterday and this morning. The metal hut frame has rusted out on the left side, so built the replacement frame out of a cheap Yardmaster ‘returns’ hut I picked up. That corner is now solid, and ready for the next stage, but I forgot to take a photo. I did remember to take one of the new runners, though.

The door on the left had also rusted away at the bottom, and the bottom frame/runner was goosed too, so I replaced all that. The ‘patch’ on the door looks a bit rough, I know, but I just wanted to get a working door just now, while I sort the hut framework. It opens, it closes, but won’t win any awards, but it will be replaced, eventually.

There is just so much stuff still in the hut, that I’m having to work on one section at a time, I now need to drag out the two 4 drawer filing cabinets, and plastic shelving units, to let me patch up some more holes, insulate, and line the walls with ply. Fortunately, I’m used to working in limited spaces.

Started making a mast for one of the Cats today, bent some 25mm tube and cut some bits on the plasma and started welding it up.

Almost finished, have to take it round to the boat tomorrow and mark/cut the legs to the correct length and angle then weld the feet on and bolt to the roof then fit lights aerials, radome etc.

last boat i made , i hate stainless, all that polishing, the guy i had making pushpit stuffed it, not eye for line, i spent all Christmas reforming the rails to suit deck camber, what sorta boat have you got

I don't have a boat, I do work to other peoples boats.
I hardly do any work for WAFI's as most of them, around here anyway, wan't a 20hrs job, all polished and pretty and then expect to get it for a fiver.
It is nearly all Fishing boats I do work on and these guys don't care if something is shiny or not, they want function and strength and that suits me

A few of the Cats I have fitted out this past year or so. I am currently doing work for another 2 Cats and there are another 3 coming Dec-May.

I also do work on other boats such as making a hopper and extending the shelter on this one I did earlier on this year.

The Cats are all creel (lobster pot) boats, the one with the hopper is Prawn (Langoustine) and squid.

As kids, we spent half our holidays down at the harbour. Favourite phrase was "Any chance o' a fry?"
We always went home with fish, even if our Mums didn't want/need it.......

Small update on the ‘big hut’ refurbish. Dragged out the two plastic shelving units, one 4 drawer cabinet (too rusty to keep), and managed to shuffle the other filing cabinet, pillar drill, table saw, etc, to one side, phew....

Found even more tools I never knew the hubby had.

Missing metal panel at the back fitted, aluminium tape now sealing all the joins, insulation fitted, and one plywood panel fitted.

And that’s just one side of the hut.
