Did you try the 3D modelling program Rhino you can download Rhino 6 for free and you can use it 90 days for free it's a wonderful program

Not heard of that one. Sketchup is a free download from Google, easy to use etc. I spent hundreds of hours on the design, running it past the wife, changing things, until we both got to where we liked everything, it was great fun at the time, something millions dreams of but never do.

Came out pretty close in the flesh.

A flywheel locking tool... Ready for when I install the new flywheel as I am installing a single mass vs the dual mass I have already removed.

Not too bad I think seeing as it was all done with an angle grinder. Just got to offer it up tomorrow so i can mark and drill the locating holes.

Its made from 2 pieces of 65x10 flat bar held together atm with a couple of 6mm bolts.

3 boys 7,4 and 18 months. There all in awe of the garage and tools and show keen interest in it.

Eldest has his sights set on some kind of engineering.

My problem is my 24 year old son is too interested in engineering and mechanical stuff, my kit disappears and I know it's my son who has borrowed it. I'm not sure I'll have anything left by the time I'm dead!

It’s a dust cap made out of a 243 case, might put them on the L200. Something different, as long as the tire doesn’t go bang !

That'll still have a fair bit of weight to it though, at 3mm? Maybe you're going to have a V8 pulling it about?

I discovered by chance [as you do] that the ends of spent 12-bore cartridges are a perfect press fit on the 17mm wheel bolts for BMWs. Trimmed to length and polished up they look good and have been much admired locally. However, I discovered that they're no longer solid brass so only last one Winter/Summer before corroding badly - good job I have loads available. I think I might have some which are 'old stylee' and possibly solid brass and will, when time and other projects permit , dig them out to see.....

Tiling tomorrow and the only spare blade I have for my small wet saw is 1"
But the saw is 30mm bore blades.

New bush turned and fitted. Nice and snug.
A day having a lathe is handy.

Also made some black smoke.

Set the donkey saw going and didnt notice something wedged under the motor mount. When the cut got deeper wasnt enough tension and belt stopped but motor didnt. Queue black smoke.

Last week I made a set of parts for an odd sized hydraulic cylinder for a scrap grab , the only thing left from the original is the full bore end cap. The rest is all brand new. Pressure tested it Friday painted it and sent it out to the customer

Today I made this, I was just going to be bending the 12mm Alu but my Oxygen hose sprung a leak so I decided just to cut the ends out of some 12mm plate with the plasma and weld the round bar in between.
Any guesses as to what it is/for?

I also welded up the handrail for one of the new Cheetah Cats, bandsaw is very handy for this as I can slide it through the vice and hold in the position I want to get the welding done.

It was then on to a Cheetah to disconnect the Honda 135's ready for lifting off tomorrow and replacement 40Hp Selvas bolted in place.
I won't be there as I have to take my dog through to StMonans to get his back leg X rayed to check that his bones are healing and the plate is secure.

They are swapping out twin 135 Honda,s for a pair of 40 Selvas Whats the thinking behind that idea?

Selva 40's are de-rated Yamaha 115Hp, quite how close they are to 40Hp is debatable as they seem to punt the boats along at the same rate of knots that 70Hp ones would
The main reason is the cost of a licence, currently they are around about £350 per Kw so for the guy to licence the Cat with 135's it would cost around £70K, with the Selvas it will be £21K.
