Looks like you're shaping up to drill 300mm holes. That little rig isn't designed for it poor thing.

Doesnt even notice it so im told.
Head I made has plenty of torque and very rigid, hard chromed en25t shaft running in bronze at the wet end and separate thrust and ball bearing dry end in en8 casing Column weighs about 100lb and is strong despite looking knackered

I don't mean the bit you made I mean that poor little drill stand. It'll do it but it won't be happy.

Its fine even though it looks weak its a strong lump, its out lived several comercial drilling heads over the last twenty years!

I'm on about the commercial bit

Having said that you probably have much softer concrete up your way. Down here we have to battle with flint aggregate.

Here's my set up for drilling today. Cutting a section of railway platform in half the long way.

Today, I made more ‘hut’ space. Two walls and half of the front door wall insulated, and lined. One side of the roof now clad, and half the floor redone.

Still got lots of tools to get rid of, and storage shelves to make, but getting there.

Today I made...my washing machine spin fast

Sick and tired of yet another basketful of very wet clothes , together with the onset of cold weather, finally prompted me to try to fix my washing machine that's been playing up for months.

The beast in question is probably 15 years old and was my mum's. A Tricity Bendix Advanced Eco AW1000W.

Googling didn't help so I just dived in

Swapped a capacitor that was reading low

No change. Took out the only other two, which were electrolytics, and found another reading 36μF instead of 47μF.

I didn't have a replacement to hand but did have a 10μF which I paralleled with the suspect one

Replacement part on order with a couple of spares for stock. Feeling very pleased with myself.

We have had 7 washing machines in 16 years and each one has been repaired numerous times so yours has lasted well.

This has probably only been used once a week for its entire life. It's never had a repair, to the best of my knowledge, so obviously well made. Even the drum bearings feel fine and the belt is still taught.

Well....a) firstly there's family considerations, then b) if I could be sure of receiving the same medical treatment(s) as I currently enjoy [i.e. keeping me alive] elsewhere, and finally c) a & b aside, if I could afford it I'd be in the Bahamas or similar.

Thanks for reminding me, I'm slowly slipping into "Bah Humbug" mode in preparation.
