Really nice work! How did you taper the ends?
Heated up then square off and draw out with the hammer, making a square point then rotate whilst hitting to round off the square corners gives you your round taper.

Jesus looking at your work makes me feel less of a man
I really like them...how do you stop the rod falling from side to side on the pin?Today I completed the last two of my clocks, my supply of pistons has come to a temporary end - the hunt continues. These are from a Ford of some sort, hence the short stroke.

It was also a test for my bench press, which performed well - no more heating and BFH to get the things apart and back together. I'm wishing I hadn't painted it though, as some of the paint is still 'sticky' when under pressure in storage..... I should have probably thinned it and sprayed it through my HVLP gun but conditions weren't ideal when I was at it. We live and learn.....well, sometimes we do!

Soewhere here I have 3 sets removed from a mk6 transit, if they are any good to you, and I can find them, you are welcome to them..Today I completed the last two of my clocks, my supply of pistons has come to a temporary end - the hunt continues. It is a bit different to cylinders I have seen. It has a shock absorber on the end (right in pic) but the rod itself only hits the shock absorber when it is almost fully up.
The seal itself which is the rod end is just a push fit in but it has a moulded ring on its outer circumference which locks into a groove in the cylinder body, the more pressure the more it will grip.

I don't have a pic of the seal itself but it looks just like the one in the pic below.

Here's he cat feeding station I made a few years back.Over the last week I have knocked up a bird house, specifically using only off cuts and odd stuff I have laying around.
Not a single bird has frequented the new establishment yet.........

You’ve got no grass in your garden for worms so they won’t be frequenting your garden naturally. Get a good mix of bird seen and fat balls on there they will soon discover it.Over the last week I have knocked up a bird house, specifically using only off cuts and odd stuff I have laying around.

At this time of year though food is fairly abundant.
Have you got a water table? I even run the hose on a bit of concrete with a depression which the birds love to come and bathe in.

I had to stop feeding the birds when a cat adopted us.
It's like the killing fields out there (bell on her collar or not)
I found Magpies frolicking in our dogs water bowl, splashing it everywhere, so now the birds have their own dog-bird water bowl. I plan to find a suitable ornamental concrete bird bath to break up the gravel area a bit.
The same Magpies do seem to like digging in the shredded bark stuff around the tree, but I think they scare away the smaller birds actually.
We have a rather large GSD so cats never appear in our garden.
Found them! also found a set out of an R6, they are tiny though. Want them too? Send your address over. That would be great, thanks! Let me know when/if you come across them and I can PM you my details.
There will be recompense, of course.
