Custom dog box for a hilux will a pull out middle ect...it was a real head ach and heart ach getting this right as their was only 3/4 of a inch play round it

and the galvanisers made a right job on it....drilling vent holes where their was already hidden ones...and best of all they gave bruce banner a slap then told him to strap it on the wagon, the top was buckled in a good 5-6 inches and i had to cut,weld new in and galv paint it..galvanisers eh

Possibly the most pathetic I made this. Last week I got a cheapo brake bleeder off that Ebay. It worked a treat on the first bike, but before I got to the second it had an unfortunate interface with the ground and being cheap, it broke. I'm too tight to buy another so I made a new catch bottle for it today.

What’s the red handled thing with the brass bit and the pressure gauge? Is that the ‘master cylinder’ from the bleeding kit?

Thats the pump that creates a vacuum that draws all the bubbles out of the caliper. Tube from there to the catch tank, then another tuber from the tank to the bleed nipple

Today I made a tailgate for my pickup truck utilising a jag xjs rear Vallance picked up at a boot sale two years ago and fabricated .9mm sections around plywood formers

Modified a cutting board to fit into a kitchen sink.
Traced the contour brought it home and cut out a template for the router.

I'm better using the sander than the router so almost all mistakes got hidden

Sick to death of not knowing which of my dewalt batteries is dead or half dead and not wanting to keep cycling them unnecessarily I decided to make a designated volt meter. Not feeling the love for an old dewalt torch anymore so I butchered it and fitted a two bob voltage gauge into it.

On reflection it would have suited the case better with the round version in the end where the grommet goes.

Anyway, one hollowed out dewalt torch with the help of the Dremmel

Just as well I checked first because either dewalt or the Chinese cant remember which is live

Productive day today, changed some sockets in the house, painted some windows then replaced the anti roll bar links on the car before heading into the workshop. Hydraulic press is shaping up nicely now

Not the worst welds but definitely the limit of my little Clarke.

Due to Mrs TYA sleeping of a night shift and Min Me not felling good(Teenagers and booze)
I was reduced on the power tools I could use.

The Pocket Volt Meter.


Needed a repair, the test lead needed to be replaced. So I "borrowed" one from another meter what is only fit for spares.
Tested on 12vdc and up to 100vdc. The range is 120vdc.
It is accurate enough to be used. But I think I will use a modern meter at work.


Hand polished, came up very well and surprisingly quickly.



This was a nice feeling hammer. But in need of some TLC.



Spun up on the lathe to remove some of the dirt and grime. Then using a contour scraper to remove the rest. I gave it a good scrubbing with "meths."


Shaft cleaned and head temp fixed to shaft.



Head heated until you could feel the heat on the palm of your hand from 3" (75mm) away. Then dipped into linseed oil.
Not blackened, but darkened.



Waxed with Bee's wax, from a hive what was in an Oil Seed Rape field, a nice dark, but smelly wax.

the mrs is fair comment but min me thats a no, my daughter found that out that the hard way

Raw Plug Hammer drills.


As I got them.
Mushroomed heads.
Blunt bits.
1 broken bit.



Heat needed to free them.
Not something we can do in MIS.
So I cracked them out at home.
The MIS member who helped was shocked how quickly they got red hot and the ease the bits came out.



All done.
The broken bit was dead. So was binned.

So, it was a good chance to train members on the bench grinder.
Not only to re move the mushrooms, but to sharpen the bits.

One of our MIS Members saw this in my box of bits to restore.
He was shocked that they are still around, his grandfather had one he recalls.



So, I showed him how to clean it up.
With out power tools, he has health issues and power tools may not be a good idea.


His efforts.
I think he did well.

I did mange to do some more bits for myself.



As I got it.


The blade did not need much force to separate it from the box wood handle.


The box handle was polished on a lathe. But I did "Bash up" a scraper to remove the modern varnish and gunk. The blade was cleaned in a electrolysis tank, to show a MIS "expert" how simple it is and you don't need hundresds of pounds to do it (Ex pongo officer)



Finished.
This picture bugs me.
The blade looks rusty, but I know it is not.
