I always wondered what screw cutting was like on the ikegai?

I have seen one Wilson slant bed in the flesh at a concrete breaker repair shop

I never did any screwcutting with the Ikegai, only used it a few times and not sure if Mark ever did either as most screwcutting was done in the CNC's. That is what I should have done today but for some reason I decided to use the Triumph.

I think Mark sold the Wilson to a guy down Norfolk kind of way, I was thinking about it myself for a while, was going to convert to CNC but the Churchill came along so that idea was knocked on the head.

As per the acquisition thread, started out life like this..

Originally designed to fit inside a spare wheel, but later pressed into service as a 2-stroke mix container for someone's Stihl chainsaw at 25:1 by the looks of it?

15 minutes of maintenance spray and blue roll had it looking like this..



Quite chuffed with the outcome, I’ll leave it to “dry” this week, then put some beeswax on it I think.

First “thing” I’ve restored as such, usually items get used in the state they’re acquired in

I didn't quite build this today but i did finish, my new workshop extension its not great but will do the job.
not quite square but you have to look good to notice , its hard trying to hold a tape measure over 12 ft up a ladder with no help.

Garden work, finally! Loads of clearing, weeding and moving things about, plus I made these two troughs to grow runner beans in - put the trellis up years ago but never used it, funny how projects fall to the back of the queue... another job done though!

Made some new soft jaws for the vice the copper ones have seen better days.

Got the AFR gauge installed in a rough and ready fashion. Good enough as a temp setup and can be detached in a couple of minutes.

It's not running mega-lean, that's it running through its setup.

Magnetic drilling in the roof of a bungalow today to install several 12mm thick plates 300mm wide and 800mm long, because the architect forgot to specify a full length plate welded to the beam to support the existing rafters

The electro-magnet might hold the drill in place but I have to lift it above my head..... the damn thing weighs 30lb/14kg, and I drilled 42 holes of 18mm diameter above my head today, and I've got the same amount to do tomorrow!

The sensor in the exhaust pipe detects how much oxygen is left in the exhaust gases and by inference displays how much fuel is being used as an instantaneous readout. This is expressed as a ratio of air:fuel, eg 14.7:1

You would be surprised, everyone makes mistakes. Took down a load bearing wall in our house. Architect specified 2x 8"X2" c24 for the support columns for a flitch beam. Building control come round to check it after installation and the guy says why have you overspec'd columns? Turns out we only needed 2x 4"X2" c24. Architect had copied specs from another(nearly identical) job but forgot to change the sizes on the columns.
