Quite possibly, sarcasm hard to detect without hearing it spoken. The tone is the giveaway which written text lacks.

Architects not making mistakes was the giveaway.

Seen some real clangers in my time.

You would be surprised, everyone makes mistakes. Took down a load bearing wall in our house. Architect specified 2x 8"X2" c24 for the support columns for a flitch beam. Building control come round to check it after installation and the guy says why have you overspec'd columns? Turns out we only needed 2x 4"X2" c24. Architect had copied specs from another(nearly identical) job but forgot to change the sizes on the columns.

Architects like a bit of click n paste until building control asks for calcs and then they say that despite their exorbitant costs you now need the lowly structural engineer to actually work it out.

Prepare to be astounded, speechless even... I know that there's a few woodworkers here but I suspect the complexity of this would defeat you.

It's the third one I've finished today, the fourth this week - and probably the fiftieth since I started teaching. It's the first thing our first years make in the workshop.

Still, that's Christmas present for Mrs Tangledfeet sorted!

I find it hard to believe a very very well paid professional like a architect would overlook a important structural detail.....

there only human and it wont be the 1st time they make mistakes an architect did drawings for an extension I worked on and he didn't specify smoke alarms . the house went up in flames along with the neighbours the sh t realy hit the fan and funnily everone had lost the plans how convenient

Yup. And the legs that fall off at every opportunity.
The backboards that are 2mm thick and have a fold in the middle.

Won't even start on there method for joining an island together.

Magnetic drilling in the roof of a bungalow today to install several 12mm thick plates 300mm wide and 800mm long, because the architect forgot to specify a full length plate welded to the beam to support the existing rafters

The electro-magnet might hold the drill in place but I have to lift it above my head..... the damn thing weighs 30lb/14kg, and I drilled 42 holes of 18mm diameter above my head today, and I've got the same amount to do tomorrow!

Ask a engineers

My pal is building a couple of houses(his), the architects structural mistakes are quite impressive.
He even had a meltdown as they made the windows a couple of inches smaller or bigger to avoid having odd brick cuts and lost bond!

Mr mdf with a roughsawn oak veneer and inserts for handles and edges.

The reason I have bolted this job is because I refused to weld it: way too easy to set this particular bungalow alight with just one splatter spark and I got 16 hours in on hourly rate for it! welding would have only taken 90 minutes to two hours,

Oh, no... this is no ordinary boat! This is a boat that takes our young learners on a journey and helps Scotland create successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors*...

(But in all seriousness this is exposing 11yo kids to a workshop environment and the most fundamental aspects of measuring, marking out, sawing, chiselling, etc... and not to forget using PVA glue which, according to one pupil which was soon removed the class, 'looks just like c*m'...)

*I could really, really bore you all to tears on a Friday evening by quoting even more from the doctrine we are obliged to obey...
