I just held off pushing the button on 1 x meter x 1" x 1" for £60ish as the boy said he might get it cheaper at work, that length would get me 3 sets 6" of standard size. But thinking now that I would only want 2 sets max of standard size, one pair with vertical V and a flat pair (either for record or parkinson 6")

What would be useful would be some chunkier copper stock for a horizontal V which I could adapt a relatively rubbish Stanley 5" vice to take

The boy is notoriously flaky which is annoying as they have top end CNC everything, and he is off for 2 weeks so said I would need to wait, reminded that he needs to find somewhere to live so he will go back in work next week and ask about buying stock cheaper

Apart from bandsawing length of 1" up the middle would look to do the rest myself with my comedy tools, the boy could probably turn all of it out looking spectacular but where's the fun in that!
And it would never get done...

Will update, comments appreciated on the horizontal V idea.

No date and no burner. But the build tells me it is mid design build unit. But I can't find out why it is green.
Red and Yellow Road works.
White are railways.
Green no idea.

Most of the dents and dings removed, without loosing the history. 2 pack body filler and a coat of useless Hamerite rust converting primmer. I had a can left. It was as useless as the first.

The lenses were a pain to de rust. The glass lenses was stuck. Here de rusted and a coat off filler primer. The rub down on the body and theses was with brown scotch-brite.

There is a few small touch up bits what accrued on the rebuild. But that is small fry.

I put " old green paraffin road lamp " into google there are quite a few

Bit of time and help has allowed some MIS Members to "fly solo."

I did nothing, apart from provide the space and the tools.
More experience on painting and finishing. But it is a start.

2 speed breast drill, just missing a side handle. I need to make or rummage in my spares. The chuck worked, but the jaws did not move freely.

I was mean, I did not allow internet search on stripping this drill down. It was "fun" to watch 3 people work it out. The surprize was the chuck spindle is sealed bearing. Not ball bearings.

Complete, painted with Smooth Hamerite, so it will be rusty by next week.

You unscrew the knurled fixing close to the gear wheel and the top handle twist off. But it doesn't fit anywhere else on the drill.

Ardy , I think the handle may be removable so you can turn the drill into a breast drill by using the breast extension attachment .

For a few minutes today I was happy.
I found a Paraffin Road lamp tank and wick holder. It looked good.



But it turns out I acquired more holes.

sweat a new bottom in a U shape & two sides on to the existing pan a 28 ounce copper soldering iron aka a big tinmans iron should hold enough heat to do it .

Had a bit of workshop time today after ages. Wanted a long handled wok spatula, longer than the ones you can buy in the shops.

So this is what I created. Blade is a stainless steel door plate, brazed (badly) to the rod which is stainless steel tube. Handle is aluminium. Epoxied to the shaft. All materials from the carefully accumulated stock at home

my plumber txt me size for a door and asked me to make it (all good door made and painted)
arrived today to fit it and it’s 200mm to high and 35mm too wide .
leason learnt even if you think someone can measure stuff measure it yourself and be sure .

On a plus note the cordless makita grinder proved it’s worth 12foot of cutting in 2mm sheeting on one battery

Never rely on other people's measurements without a disclaimer. They would have paid my labour twice for that job.
