For trimming the inside, have a look at the carpet like material the camper converters use. You can glue it on with high temp contact adhesive, don’t use standard as it will come off if left in the sun & you can mould it around the curves with a hair dryer. I used it on a T4 I did & it is easy to use & makes a nice job.

I was thinking of cutting some holes in, and riveting copper sheet on the back, to look like old instrument holes being blanked off, olde worlde classic racer sort of thing.

I have some copper, and some real rivets, but I’m trying to hurry along and get it finished as we may be moving house in a few months time and I’d like to get driving it by then.

That looks the similar stuff to what I used. As I said, warm it with a hair dryer & mould it, when I did the T4 I even moulded it around the curves of the windows & doors. Smooth it round with a smoothed end of a hammer handle into the curves was what I was told, & it worked.

Nothing welding related for a while now but a friend of mine volunteered me for a little job. He has an antique grandfather clock which always annoyed him as the key escutcheon was missing. He bought a piece of piano key on ebay of a non man made material (it's ivory but don't judge me I didn't kill the elephant) and made a template and then chickened out as he thought the piece was too flimsy to work with so he gave it to me. I drilled and filed a key hole then cut round the diamond shape template and filed it to final size. I only got a rough picture he sent me on whatsapp of the fitted item but it was roughly 3/4" tall by 1/2" wide and was a fiddly job but he is now happy with the clock.

Fully understand.
Also a wood veneer would set it off too against the copper.

Had a couple of hours in the garage again this evening, so I covered it in swarf again by drilling four 15 mm holes in the brass bars I made yesterday. Then got the M250 spinning up and churned out lots and lots of acetal washers in two different thicknesses.

Finished up on steel by beginning to make a handful of "round objects".

Slow progress with only an hour or two an evening, but progress nonetheless...

I stopped doing tree work 3 years ago this company ask me do maybe 1 week a year of the nastiest work possible. Makes you be grateful to go back and do some easy carpentry work, but equally i iove the punishment and physical ache after a days proper graft.

Got a bit nostalgic for tree work yesterday while they were felling around me.

Agrivated by the very old entec chipper.
Diesel version of my old man's chipper.

Surprised to see it with it's original controls though.
Remember my old man shelling out a few pennies for the up and around control bars.

Tree cutting cant be explained, crazy dangerous but amazing.

Those entecs are still worth good money timberwolf bought entec only changed the design 2 years ago.

Did he start in the 80s most firms down here came about due to the storms.

Now you cant move for tree surgeons we specialised in difficult jobs and reductions. Everyone around us were and are butchers with no real theory knowledge

Spiking a dead tree is great, they sort of give a little shudder every time you bang the spike in. Wouldn't have had a top anchor in too high on that one. Was it completely dead?

Brown bread maybe 3 years and its a willow the tree that rots quicker than any other. Its about 40 ft high will bang of 20 then fell it. I love the buckaroo

Too small, best for us was a 120ft pine. One hell of a fix was pretty green then.

Fair play to you Mtt but that would take me a week ,a few reams of paper,a dozen ink cartridges and a lot of creativity to write a RAMS that could justify sending one of my lads up a tree like that .
