I'd used a similar process a few years ago (before I had a welder) to put an internal hex shape into a big hand wheel I found in a skip (about 350 mm diameter maybe?) to use on my mill vice (sorry: too lazy to go out in the rain to the garage to take photos). It makes it very quick to spin the vice in and out thanks to the momentum of the hand wheel.Interesting thought process and top marks for the result.
Me too. There often seem to be those little jobs that take very little time but you immediately wish you'd done them years ago!The paint slowed me down as well
