I've already clear coat both handle and head
I don't plan to use I just like hammers
I can't find lindsen oil here where I live
The other handles I've clear coated still fine after years using them so I don't think might be an issue
But oiling the handles is something I would like to do because I've seen doing it on YouTube, the results are amazing
I have to ask at my local ironmongery if they can order some

Linseed oil or a clear lacquer coat is good a hard wood handle.

Try a oil stain, or a wood stain then a oil.

Or go cheep and varnish.

Little purge box, ideal for backing gas when welding fittings in, small butt joints etc.

Finished today but started last weekend.
I had some heavy hammered 40 x 8 kicking about that was turning a bit motley and we needed a new bench so knocked this up.
The cost of the slats was kept down by buying some reduced hardwood (Balau) decking planks and cutting them in half, apart from the top one.
It's 1.6m wide and I was worried it would sag in the middle but it doesn't budge with my 17 stone sat on it.

Just off the chance it's something interesting.

It's an EJ20 closed deck block from my Legacy turbo.
At a track day I was running a tad too much boost & I managed to melt a hole behind the rings on one piston. Best part was it was running ok, just a bit more lumpy than usual & a bit down on power!
Removed the engine & found that the bore was scored, needing a rebore & oversize pistons. It was during the boom of grey import imprezas so good engines were scarce and expensive as was the cost of a rebore!
Managed to find a good original Legacy engine for £200 so I used that fitted with new bearings.

Was planning on selling the block on to the tuner fraternity, the closed deck blocks are stronger than the std impreza block & handle a lot more power. That never happened & nowadays they are using the 2.5 engine as the base for mega hp!

Not stuff I made but I repaired the old favourite tea strainer today because we don't do tea bags only when camping. Fastened it back together with the minarc mig

No way on gods earth someone was killed with a shotgun full of shot from 175m. Not even 100m.

He was hunting boar according to the original post therefore almost certainly solid slugs, BBs or SSGs which would comfortably travel that distance and kill a person - we're rather pathetic compared to a wild boar.

I shot a wild boar with a .300win mag, it laid there for about 2mins then got up running a further 75yds before collapsing. Once gutted it was found there was little left of its heart. Sure are very strong dangerous animals. Most unwise to approach even when you think they are dead.
