Tried the B/Plan by putting the con rod in the rotary table on mill, but damned eyesight and the lack of three hands proved unsuccessful. So, back to the lathe and luckily Heath [Robinson] turned up to help - not pretty , but it worked. Just need to tidy up with a rub of emery paper and job jobbed.

I make clocks. The small ones are from a Yamaha R6, thanks to @Chillitt - it's taken me ages to get to them for numerous reasons , but when done they'll look like shrunken [i.e. 'cute'] versions of these

Today I made a hard bit of steel

Into two bits. Also milled a flat on the underside, thank goodness for carbide

It is an extension section for some Capto tooling I got a while back but I had no way of using it in my lathes turret as you can't get a VDI30 to Capto C4 adapter for under £500 and even then it is not the type I need.

So I have decided to make up my own so that I can use the Capto tooling. I especially want to use one of the threading heads as it can take 22mm size inserts which means I can get much larger pitch inserts than I can currently get with the 16mm size insert tooling I have.

Here is a 22mm size head attached to the adapter with a 16mm insert head below.

I have ordered a VDI 30 rectangular blank from Cutwel so should have that tomorrow and my plan is to bore it out to fit the adapter into. I can then change heads as required as I got quite a few different ones. I only need to work out how I am going to do the coolant now.

Anyway here is what I am planning.

Not today but finished today with the help of Mick Dundee my fabby . Gurt H frame gate post assembly made in 150x150 box with brackets on for a pair of gate rams, pockets for photo cells, one side extended for camera perch and tubes/ducts etc fitted within the box section to conceal all wires. Idea is to just dig holes/trench and erect/concrete in as is without the need to mess with the posts on site for alignment. Stood upright on the trailer was just under the 16` height limit, @KimB look the other way

My sister needed some end panels for her kitchen and the worlds smallest door. Longest part was the paint prep and spraying but the finish is superb

Not bad for a cheap gravity gun with the tips drilled out to 2mm, i have 2 one for priming one for colour makes bigger jobs flow better in a small space

The paint is dulux diamond eggshell wont use anything else for furniture thins and sprays nicely

Today all I've made is a 2 inch square of chainmail out of a couple of aluminium TIG rods.

Now that I've got the hang of the metal knitting aspect I now need to make a few thousand rings out of something more exotic.

How about making a couple of right angle brackets which bolt to the faceplate and the conrod bolts go through to attach. Make it variable, dial the big end in and bore to size

Made first door/decor panel for the kitchen over the last few days, in between tidying up after the storms and moving stone around for the dry stone waller.

First clamp up 4 boards of quarter sawn oak, I used panel clamps from Rutlands as they squeeze in 4 directions keeping the board flat.

Then route a rebate on the back of the panel and corresponding slots in the frame, plus a festool domino mortice.

Then glue and clamp up the dominos and frame, keeping the glue away from the panel so it can move in the frame a little.

Then sand, oil it with Osmo Polyx hard wax oil and install it on the dishwasher door.

Just 28 more to make, and 5 drawers and about 20 drawer/trays to dovetail then I can get back to restoring machines

At least if you make your own doors you dont have to work to standard door sizes.

A stainless steel heat exchanger,it fits on a 200 litre oil drum,it’s a tapered hollow disc,customer designed ,he’s done a few unconventional heaters,and heat stores made from cob.im just glad to oblige/ indulge his creations and then reieve him of some lolly

Knocked up some spanner racks using Inventor and then 3D printed them in PLA

Bed on the printer is only 200*200 so had to slice the racks to print them out

I like spanner racks as I can see straight away if I've left one somewhere








The eagle eyed have probably noticed there is 1 missing, it's not lost just never had it, one is now on its way from ebay to complete the set

yep very handy as you say to see if any is missing or u need the next size up I have some kenedy professional spanners just loose but I tend to use my halfords professional ones as there on a rack same as my bahco ones . once ones missing you might as well throw the lot away unless you can get a matched one for the set

100mm spanner out of 10mm, really pleased with the cut and a fire pit out of a but thinner stuff.
