Bed on the printer is only 200*200 so had to slice the racks to print them out

You need one of these:

No, not a pint glass: the printer's a Creality CR10-S5, 500mm cube work area. That said, the bed heater was lifted from the standard CR10 so is only 300mm square and hasn't a hope in hell of getting the thing warm enough for large parts in ABS

The part on it is a splash guard that's 325mm long:

Mind, it did take this long to print...!

Not my work, one of my pupil's that I thought I'd share. By far one of the more pleasant pupils I see down in the workshops; he wanted to try the Japanese method 'Shou Sugi Ban' on a project our S3's (he's 14) make in 'Practical Woodwork' - a project I came up with a few years ago. By far one of the more sizeable projects we make at a cash-strapped secondary school but at least something they generally engage with and actually want to take home!

Got the hokey-ass preload adjusters in place.
They seem to work.


There's about 12mm of basic preload in there because of the thickness of the washer and the protruding part of the threaded barrel, but that's fine as i had already tried a couple of 10mm spacers to see what difference they made, so knew I was on the right track.
The total available thread depth from zero adjustment to full (as seen in the pics) is 20mm, so plus the 12 gives me 32mm.
That works absolutely fine.

But Sunday it failed me.#
The power switch fell apart and the tyres finally gave out.

30 minutes of work.
The tyres were a bit tight to fit.
The switch, easy.
Back in business.

I had exactly the same probs with my Axminster White bandsaw. The switch fell to bits and the tyres perished. I fitted a domestic switch and Axminster sent two new tyres, but they had a extra bit for a groove, that my wheels didn't have, so I had to shave them of. Still working fine..

7018 and 6013
Hopefully it will be finished tomorrow

Finished 'Baby Ben' today, cute eh?

And "Ma, Pa and The Wea' 'n"......

The one on the left is the very first clock I made, it's a m/cycle one from a Yamaha xv virago 700 I got on the 'Bay. Middle one is 'Baby Ben', and on the right is a 'Little Ben' which is earmarked for a pal.
As I was doing the final cleaning and assembly work, Heath forced his way in the door [I'm glad I didn't strangle him earlier ] and a better, aka easier, way of enlarging the hole may () have occurred to me.

Today I made a little truck for the garden - to cart around a gas cylinder for my weed-killing flamethrower. No mug to hand but it’s 1m x .5m, 260mm tyres.

Will make some sides for it next.

No really made anything apart from a mess on her carpet! Replaced the loft hatch. Doesn’t fit as flush to the ceiling as i would of liked. Builders installed the first one where two sheets of plaster board join.
