Nice job except I see jaw grip marks on it, can you not sand them out? I use steel jaw covers when I'm working with cutting out metal shapes with files etc

Yes indeed there are a few...I will sand them out before painting...I have vice covers for the jaws but have missed placed them.an idea to make another set thoe.

Good to hear, you've done a lovely job cutting and it'd be sad to see it with a poor finish. I have an ally set for softer metals and some folded steel ones for when you need the grip of the vice but not the cutting of the teeth. Wouldn't mind some of those rubber magnetic ones...

Great job, really nice work, Got to be mirror polished though!How are you attaching it to the box? Plug weld from the rear would be my choice,

I can mirror polished it...yes plug weld from the back...it looks better than trying to attach it with bolts/screws ect.

Nothing fancy like a lot of you guys but it is functional and it gave me an excuse to use quite a few tools in the process, a little jig to make nice flanges on flexible solar pipe. luckily its only got to do about 20 flanges. Now to get on with cleaning up the man cave

Just fold some lead or copper sheet over the tops of the jaws and the inserts. A bit of plumbing pipe slit/cut along its length is an easy and cheap way to get some copper sheet.

@spencer 427 I made ones in a variety of materials, alu/rubber/cork/plastic - cut a bit of alu angle, back it with magnetic tape and glue whatever facing you want on the contact surfaces - job jobbed
