Finished the latest bit of wood bothering today. Jewelry box (or whatever she wants to put in it really) for the better half. Had a friend use his little CNC engraver to do the name in a piece of purpleheart then made it into a nice shape to attach to the lid.
Lid is Jara wood and teak, box sides are teak with purple heart tabs and the base is some african hardwood I got ages ago, left overs from building the bathroom cabinet thingy.

Well, again no pics will get some eventually, I finished building the roof. The financial controller has finally conceded that we need some roof windows in it! Glass is in the window frames and I just filled myself with some rather stronger than usual pain killers. I am feeling fine right now, I won't be able to get out of bed in the morning.

Now an even bigger tiny corner is tidy. Best I get on with some proper jobs nowMade a tidy corner of the garden tidy and almost level.
Turns out the flags that used to be the top of the wall, before Dad added a couple of courses of nasty Bradstone type stuff so he could plant flowers along the top, are mostly made from old millstones. Not sure what Im going to do with a dozen or so squared off millstones, but I'm sure they will come in handy for something

A disclaimer.
The following images are staged. They are done to prove a H&S point why objects like those listed below are not suitable for MIS.
What is not shown is a second person, 3 fire extinguishers and a hose pipe with water on and the nozzle set to Wide Cone Spray.
But The Big Brass Blow torch WORKS!!!
Looks harmless?
No, the warming tray is full of "Meths." and is alight. But no visible flames. There is 30PSI of pressure and 4 pints of Paraffin in the tank. Main Valve is off.
When the warming tray is 90% used up, you open the main control valve until a (Quote) "A suitable warming flame is visible."
Open the main valve to much and you get a jet of liquid burning paraffin. Hence why the floor is awash with free running water, plus liquid detergent.
It will get worse.
Here it is starting to self sustain it self.
"Much fettling and feathering of the main control valve is needed." (quote)
This is when it starts to "Roar" into life.
But it will soon bite you if you get the operation of the control valve wrong.
No, we did not get an image of that, safety came first.
Almost up to working temp.
Fully working at correct temp.
Yes there is a flame. A Hot one.
The only way you would know it was working was the hiss and a gentle roar. Step 15 feet away and you wouldn't know. Have a radio on and again you would not know.
Taken from a safe distance on maximum zoom, through a safety lens.
You can see the "choke" glowing a nice red.
A nice bit of fun.
But I hope that MIS will listen to the concerns why this is not a suitable project.

So.
Again the above disclaimers this set was staged.
This was taken to prove what goes wrong.
Not enough pressure and you get a dribbling jet and a lot of soot build up. It will self ignite.
Not Good.
Yes there is a hot flame here.
You can just make out the blue hot jet.
This is alight and I am following the "Instructions."
Here with it burning away, (quote) "You can tune the front shield to give a true and straight Flame." "Then adjust the jet temperature by adjusting the height of the warming tray."
It does make a big difference to the operation of the units.
The adjustable spanner is there and set to allow me to dump the pressure quickly if it went wonky.
I will admit it was a bit scary, but with care and a lot of respect the 80+ year old instructions we were able to return both to full operation.
The Green one was working, but now it is a bit safer and a Lot hotter.
Again, not something to think about unless you are 100% confident.

A new nozzle for the 3d print recycler and then some springs;
This one's got a tapped hole to screw a thermocouple into, meant to do this first time round but it totally slipped my mind.
Springs are 0.8mm stainless mig wire wound onto a 15mm bar which, by blind luck, happens to make the 24mm diameter spring I was aiming for. All done with the lathe set at different TPIs but weirdly they're all pretty much the same once you release the tension. They'll hold the valves down in an old pump my dad's restoring.

Full test, after a few rebuilds.
Internal dirt likes to move.
Babies head by the light of a Tilly lamp. Then a fresh coffee.

But you have no room for error at all
The engine is locked up with pins before the belt is removed
Still get the twitches on first start up
