liking the doors and latches, well thought out, especially like angling the reinforcement downwards so the grit drops down. good solutions.

been there a few times, caught out with "extra works" but they see it as that was what we agreed and was already in the original quote.... never an easy call, argue and lose other works, or just accept it..

if it's every time, I'd be doing a more detailed, written quote capturing everything, even if it seems petty or minor.

I'd also add a clear phrase at the bottom of the quote, but clearly visible.
"Any works not defined above, and which are subsequently discovered during the works, which require additional materials or labour, are considered as extra work. These works shall be brought to the attention of the client, and costs and schedule impact agreed prior to those extra works being carried out..." or something along those lines..

Might give you a bit more comeback with them.

Dual sand hoppers and shallow, nice work! The one at uni is steep and single, which means having to reach inside and push the sand back down to the feed, complete pain.

My last few weeks of fun.

It was a fire place I recused from being taken for scrap.
I splashed out and got the metal work media blasted. The using plenty of "Fire Black" I got the finish we were all happy with.

No, it is not connected to a flue, that was removed years ago. The plan is foe my friend to have scented candles.
yes, a large room feature..

The mantle piece is a stained a varnished pine, B&Q. Yes. I must of got the only un-warped bit in the store.
The side cheeks are recycled scaffold board, ripped down, planed up and sanded. The finish is Danish oil.

fitting and drilling steel girders first floor thats the reason why i posted about the mag drill

had loads of fun architect wants sacking twice weve had to move the steel beams due to there errors one steel beam in middle of your chest going up the staircase and then the back beam had to be moved further back which meant the double beams had to be moved to rest on top of the steel beams after they was moved

staircase is now complete from ground floor

Today I have mostly been plastering

Quite chuffed as although I've done bits and pieces in the past this is the first room I've plastered completely.
A few trowel and dry bits but as it's going to be a utility room and you won't see most of the walls as the thermal store and washing machine will hide most of it I thought it would be good practice before I do the rest of the barn.

I used to like plastering, but after I breaking my clavicle I had reduced movement and strength. So get a local builder to do any I require.

So today I've got the draws, trouser racks and cloths rails on as well as the floor over boarded and the some architrave on the door casing.

Only problem now is the walls, the dulux trade vinal matt emulsion in blue is horrendous compared to Leyland contracts matt emulsion on the finish.
The blue is chalky and marks with the lightest of touches where as the white Leyland is silky and doesn't mark up.
They are both matt emulsions but the dulux is vinal so I'm wondering of that's the issue.

Oh yes, flippin expensive too but I don't know anyone local with a pto version that I could borrow. I could probably have paid to have it all chipped for less than the hire but where is the fun in that.... diesel hydraulic toys are fun.

Its a bit addictive watching it eat big stuff, then I started chipping stuff that would actually have been ok in the log burner just to see if it could :-)
