It's a longer shoulder version of the one on the right, so that I can use/try this.

It's a Starlock adapter, so one can use the older style blades, which are more readily available.

The slot is a hacksaw & file job.

Ended up ordering a cheap metric tap & die set off Ebay, which included the size die I wanted. Must say, it cut the thread better than I was expecting, & seems made to a good tolerance.



Standard blade fitted.



Only thing I have noted is that I'll need to use open end blades. The ones with an enclosed end have a smaller diameter centre hole than the Starlock screw diameter.

I often see posts in the TIG welding section regarding stainless colours and distortion. Simplest way to minimise both is proper clamping of chill bars and backers.

No pulse, just a normal #8 gas lens with 7LPM of argon.

Got confirmed that a customer won't pay for an air compressor which I've sent it back to him completely disassembled after seeing him refusing to pay 50 euros to rebuild the pump ,so now he has at least 120 pieces of an air compressor (300 euros new)

Must confess to having done something similar not too long ago, might have mixed a few extra parts in there too, not sure.

I made my work space a little more organised.

A new shelf for 'stuff' ... well it was a pre-existing shelf, but used to be in a metal cupboard. I made a support for the right hand end (wood sorry ), which in turn gave me somewhere to store my angle grinders. I think it was someone here that suggested using those hooks for garden tools?





I also made up a set of power sockets to go above the window, in place of the current ones on the pillars either side. Plan is that I can then board the pillars (I've done one already) and hang some tools there. A full wall would be nice, but I like to be able to see outside, and the light is great.



Got to come up with some more storage solutions ... I imagine there is a thread here about it but if so I can't find it.

Today I decided to fit the plasma torch I bought a year or more ago
Ok so it didn't fit in the brackets on the Z axis of the plasma so had to make a new one. Started off with a 50mm thick piece of 4" x 4" aluminium. Faced off both sides and then started to bore a 35mm hole.

Hole done.

Torch body slides in nicely.

Forgot to take pics of the rest of the making of the bracket but here it is fitted. Had to use the body and gland from the old torch as the new one was too tight to let the cables pass through when done up with heatshrink.

And here is what it is like now.

Back to the old torch as the new one is junk. It is a two part torch and the lower part can move slightly and it wobbles with the acceleration of the axes. It also doesn't clamp up square when you tighten it. Tried all sorts of things but the only solution would be to clamp the lower half and that kind of defeats the point of having a quick detach torch. Lesson learned, if it looks like a good idea it probably isn't

So ,yesterday’s aluminium sheets are cut and bent,just need one end of each blanked off,the local wheelwright does my aluminium welding for me,then it’s out with the holesaw for 36 holes 40 diameter.
