There should be eight, I did two slightly differently and ruined one, need to buy another.

I'm curious how the more experienced machinists would hold these, straight in a 4 jaw doesn't work, you can hold it but as soon as you loosen one jaw to centre it, it falls out.

Not easy to hold them unless you machine soft jaws to fit. Likely in the manufacturers they will have machined to shape 2 jaw chucks.

Fresh from the 3D printer, an adaptor to fit a vacuum cleaner hose to a DA sander. I must be getting better at this designing malarkey, I got to version 11 on the first thing I ever designed, this was only version 6. I think I'll need a longer hose!

So last week I put on the Hakansson blade, it didn't seat properly, ran off the wheels, and wouldn't ride right whatever I did, and started to crack at the weld before I'd even cut anything with it!
The Harrison Saws blade came the next day, I wapped it straight on, no dramas, cuts straight and quiet.

Justbandsawblades (NLS Tools) were very helpful when I rang up about it, they said the blade joint should have been square but they did have a fault with the blade welder so they are sending another one out FOC.

@Brad93 I think I'll be buying from Harrison Saws from now on, the area rep was really helpful and their prices are cheaper than anyone else's, and if it lasts a good amount then happy days!

I've had numerous Hakansson bi metal blades bespoke made for the steel MachineMart band saw & my dual speed metal / wood band saw ( from IIRC Just bandsaw blades " , a few have been badly fused so that there are two half teeth on the same set adjacent to each other or two of the complete same set ..I sent them back at my expense ..they sorted them out but didn't refund my postage

Yeah mate. It was more to highlight it's hard to find productive or creative time sometimes. But the phone is a godsend to my sanity.

My wife worked from home on the computer for Kantar media & several other places that wanted confidential time sensitive typing as well as doing work with several big companies on voice recognition / interpretation of garbled messaging in English for all manner of dialects & countries pronunciations for 23 years ( she's my carer getting on for 24 years or so ) .. Sometimes she'd start work at 21 .00 and work through till 0 4.30 ish to meet time sensitive deadlines around the world ( these often paid very well indeed ).

Annually earning just under the state thresholds for it to affect incomes ( three months long holidays etc to prevent going over ) Sshe worked all manner of strange hours in between tending to my weird disabilities .

Pay on the face of it all wasn't great but having to no longer dress like a class one PA & pay for it all to give a managed professional look ..... bi weekly hair do's hairdo's , make up, perfumes & bespoke clothing plus not having to have a very reliable comfortable car do 66 mile round trips to & from the office each day must have put her on close to the disposable income she'd have got if doing an office job at the higher money .


The money she got was put in to our mortgage .. we paid it off the outstanding £110,000 or so yonks before the agreed date .. almost 12 yrs early , which saved us even more by us not having the interest payments to find any more .
Some places she worked for set up all day conference facilities for her and the teams she worked from home with .

Now Covid has changed the face of working from home & she's only 57 she says she may return t it and put the income earnt directly into bitcoin etc. for her old age support income as the paltry amount available under government allowances is not likely to take her into her centenary years nor give her the comfortable retirement with good healthcare she'd like .

They look good .
May I suggest that you put the feet on 25 mm thick plastic or taller stand offs or impervious bricks etc. To reduce the chances of a wet or dry rot in the lower portions due to standing on wet concrete . Sealing the wood ends & grain with loads of sealant does not work guess how I found that out ?

Off centre setting up & turning ?

Depending on how big your chuck is .& how much cross slide travel you have .
Could you put a threaded through hole into a block of steel so that in a four jaw chuck you can put a in precision turned ( shoulder ) on a bolt .........head to fit flush to the block to fit the union & bolt the union via the threaded part to the block drawing it tight to the block , Weld on a couple of locating logs if needed . Then find the center using a simple cone in a roller bearing sleeve in the tail stock chuck to get a working centre ?

The securing bolt does not have to be the same size as the union thread ..you could use a plug inserted to suit the union and drill and tap the insert plug with a smaller more manageable thread & a high tensile Allen key bolt to set it up .

I ended up making several different size adaptors like that , the Dyson animal car upholstery rotary , hair removing brush runs well on an old Vax cleaner . I've got several metres in different diameters of pond water ribbed , smooth bore self supporting black flexi pipes , and made various adaptors to suit them .
