SWMBO wanted one of my small screwdrivers to permanently stay in her sewing workbox (!) for the odd occasion she needs one (!!).
Nipping into the cold garage to pick one off the wall, clearly takes too long and is cold and dark etc etc.(!!!)

Not wanting to give up any of my valuable tools to disappear amongst pins and needles, I grabbed some genuinely spare quick-change driver-bits; a ph2 & flathead combo and a ph1...
and tacked them together in a T shape with my little Arc welder...
Result = Nice dinky flatpack 3-way screwdriver

Only thing is - it looks too handy to leave in a sewing workbox...
Might have to make on other one, for my pocket

A ghetto biltong box. Fancied some biltong for a while and in tesco found a great lump of rump steak in the reduced counter. So old pc fan, 12v power supply, cardboard box, and some aluminium tape later I have this beauty in the kitchen.

Today I helped our lads make an old Chestnut disappear. They had already stripped it out so I trollied along with the truck and lifted the stick out for them.

Bit tight in there so kept it small

Between my lad's Fusion / 3D printing skills and my wood bothering, a copy of an IKEA box thingy. The 3D printed bits keep it all square whilst gluing. Will likely benefit from a ratchet strap around it if I use Gorilla, expanding pu glue:

PVA in the backboard slot. Expanding PU glue blobs on the mitre faces. I masked the inside. The outside will get sanded. On the original, the external, front to back corners have a subtle bevel I need to recreate with a router against a fence.

I might experiment and try that too. Wonder if there is a notable difference in flavour depending on drying speed.

the biggest diffence is if you case dry it, if you do then it doesnt dry properly, I used to make about 90kg of jerky a year (doesnt sound a lot but when you consider that I was making true dry jerky which means removing all the water and a bit of beef is about 85% water it becomes a lot!) and most of mine was dried over a charcoal fire ( or in a dehydrator if it needed due to the flavour choices)
Let it dry slowly and all is good, just not too slow

Today I made a contraption to see if I can get 15kg rolls to work on my mig.
The idea came from @gordon stephenson who has something similar on his mig. (I think)

I've an Rtech MTS250 and it takes 5kg rolls of wire.
It's a 250 amp mig and can burn a 5kg roll in short order.
Also I wanted to try dual shield mig and I have a few part rolls which are also 15kgs.
This is just proof of concept, because if the feed mechanism isn’t up to it, it's not worth pursuing.
Started with couple of bits of 40mm angle and flat bar.

Turned down a 10mm bolt and an old skateboard wheel to preform axle duties.

Then fitted to the top of the welder with neoprene packers.

An off cut of torch liner, some 5mm bar, more neoprene for back tension, a couple of vice grips and a few cable ties complete the "thing"

It seems to feed wire ok, I will see if it welds tomorrow before I waste any more time on it.

My SIP Migmate turbo would pull wire off a 15kg reel that was simply mounted on a bit of electrical conduit, balanced on top of two axle stands, running the wire in through a bit of 20mm nylon pipe wedged in a hole in the back of the case, so I would imagine the wire feed would be fine.

That torch liner might arc on the casing where it passes through the back panel. Have you got a grommet on there?

Good point and not something I had really considered.
The back of the machine is plastic so it is insulated.
The 5mm bar could potentially short, so I will make sure it's covered in heat-shrink or similar.
