Is that cabling on the RH side of the middle picture the power cord for a low wattage heater bulb placed below the saucer inside to assist the speed of drying ?A ghetto biltong box. Fancied some biltong for a while and in tesco found a great lump of rump steak in the reduced counter. So old pc fan, 12v power supply, cardboard box, and some aluminium tape later I have this beauty in the kitchen.

I made my jerky / biltong using the electric oven on fan at the plate warming setting of 50 oC for 18 hours , with a kebab stick holding the door open , the bottom oven tray was the source of our gravy stock for a couple of days .
Tip
Putting the meat in the freezer for a couple of hours to start it crystalizing with ice allows you to make super thing slices as it's nice & firm to cut with a sharp knife.
