A bit more done to the hopper.

I have decided to extend the top section which is a bit of a pain as it means another load of welding but with the limited room I have I don't think the hopper will hold enough bulk so I have no choice.

So tomorrow I will be cutting a few more bits of aluminium up ready for welding on on Thursday.

It will hopefully end up like this

You are probably right - run over a cow pat in a cycle-wing equipped Caterham Seven, and you can see it come forward out of the wing, thrown forward . . . problem is, it slows down a lot as soon as it comes off the wheel, so you tend to catch it up . . . out of the corner of your eye you can see it coming towards you . . . you can certainly hear it "SPLAT" on the roll-bar by your head . . . as long as you don't slow below 50mph, you can't smell it much . . .

Could be a lot worse, i was following some cows being driven along the road, the first car in line was a sports car with the hood down. The cows were all milling around a bit, one backed up & let the lot go, straight into the drivers lap

On Friday I finished making a pair of peg looms as presents for my mother and my other half. Each one looks like this:

but can be split in two and used for narrower stuff like this (also shown with loops through the pegs for wider "warp" threads):

They can be clamped down for use like this:

I also made boxes for peg storage (in this picture you can see the dowels that hold the two pieces in line with one another - drilling those holes accurately took a bit of thought!):

Peg looms are Oak with 10 mm Sapele dowels. Boxes are Walnut & Oak. Everything's finished with Danish Oil. The top two photos were taken on a much dingier day than the others: I need to take some more when the weather improves!

I put them on Etsy the other day just to see what would happen (and of course there are thousands of slate coasters on Etsy, so I’m not holding my breath!). I don’t have a goldfinch, but that could be remedied. I’ll have a go tomorrow and stick a photo up for you.

Why is there a raker missing in your building?

Made a bit of a hopper extension this morning and stuck it on.
50mm box with some galv sheet welded on.
It now needs extending up the conveyor to the top of the handrail.
It was all done pretty quickly and a bit rough.

Got the box section for the hopper chopped up, also the 12mm plate for the stiffeners at the top.
Most of the box is just straight cut at the ends but the 4 gantry ones have angles at either end and are diagonal, so basically 12 degrees at one end and 6 degrees at the other. Made up a simple jig (just a piece of 12mm cut at 45 degrees) so that I could position the box diagonally in the vice which made life easy.

101.75 litres of extra-virgin, organic, cold-pressed olive oil. Well not all today. We may do more if there is not too much rain next week. This week we have been helping others in the village with their olives and a run out to the press to collect our second batch of oil. Pic is the last two trees being picked on Álvaro's land neighbouring ours. The queue for the press took 7.5 hours after a 1.5 hour drive to get to a cold press where we could get our own oil from our own olives. I'm seeing an olive press construction project in my future.

@Hood, what does this hopper do?

They lift the cod end with the gantry then open and let the contents into the hopper, here is a previous one I did.

That means they can lower the sorting table, open the doors and get the catch sorted. There are funnels that they can drop the different sizes of prawns through into baskets that are in the basket holder below.
Old way was to empty the cod end into a pond on the deck and then they had to shovel the catch onto a sorting table, so saves a lot of back breaking work.

The one pictured I also made the flush hatch which meant I could make the hopper a better shape as there is room to make it further forward on the boat.
