Interesting technique there, I enjoyed this old toys video on his axe head with tigged on HSS. Probably not going to be in industrial applications for the cost vs time vs doing it "properly" but for home shop seems interesting ,, If i had a TIG and big tank of argonEr32 or 40 is a good way for small bits. Doesnt need to be that secure, as the small clearance will prevent it taking a deep chip or grabbing, just needs to get the fingers out of the way.
I dont know how long the hss edge will last and didnt take long to do so its free, post is about £4. Pm your address and I'll try to get sent today. I'd be interested to know how long it lasts, as theres not much online about tig with hss.
Done some reading, hss should be tempered about 500c so I've done the body to light blue, upsidown so flame away from the edge. The HSS has taken a nice purple. Little more grinding to do..
