Took the gamble and printed both core pieces which turned out perfectly as individually there's play but when assembled absolutely no wiggle and planetary gearbox from RC car parts works wonderfully

Now to work on the aluminium "spine" and assemble it all before designing/printing the covers and becoming batman.

The 3D-printer has been working overtime for the last few days making me a new little drawer unit that looks like this:

It's screwed into the shelf above. The bottom drawer has lots of screwdriver bits:

The middle one has hex-shank drills:

The top one has miscellaneous related clutter:

What's slightly unusual about it (and which took a bit of thinking about) is that the drawers are captive but able to tilt, so when they're fully open, they look like this:

That means I can use that long 3D-printed strip at the top for storing screwdrivers in a more compact way than before but still see what's in the drawers when they're open:

The design wasn't perfect: I needed to tweak the height of the drawers slightly, but it was close enough that I just did that with a block plane rather than bothering reprinting!

This one wasn't a great fit as I had little to go on when measuring the original. So I modified the model slightly, opening up the holes and putting a slight taper on the pushy-through bits, and @ajlelectronics was kind enough to print me another one (two actually!):

And this one fitted like a glove:

The horn is now all back together:

...and waiting to be fitted, probably on Sunday when the granddaughter is over and we refit the cylinder head.

I don't normally do tat but I couldn't resist this amazing (free!) model.

I did that one in glow in the dark filament for my favourite 6 year old (and a DEADPOOL version for me).

It's called "Dummy 13". The model is available everywhere with infinite accessories and heads. I have already made my own DEADPOOL head and a skull, next on the list is a Star Wars Stormtrooper....

Bent some 1.5mm aluminium and a smaller piece of 1.5mm stainless with no problems.

Printed 100% infill in pla

Pair of simple legs to stand the projector up pointing towards the ceiling and allow room for the firestick/cables coming out the back.

Means I can cast my phone to it and watch films in bed without straining my neck

Yeah like have you seen my design skills. Its actually on a TV bracket and its now in the category "if its working dont push your luck" I have so much to do before I can get anywhere near straight its low priority currently.

Couple hours later and got the first full scale prototype for my lead rope solo climbing backup/progress capture device, changed the design from simple plates to a cnc'd 7075 block but can't print metal just yet so this will do to get a feel of size/placement.


Certainly smaller than it looks on the pc wasn't expecting it to fit in my hand perfectly like the grigri

I have looked at various videos on Gridfinity and I can't make my mind up as to if it is a simple but brilliant idea or if it is just too much of a faf.
