Is it a metal hot end? Retraction is generally far smaller for those.

Dealing with strings is a simple as pointing a hot air gun at them!

It is just frustrating as I spent a couple of hours with the settings and running the samples.

I did not read the instructions too well earlier, but it is available (along with profile shift) in FreeCAD. See below for two gears overlaid, one with standard root fillet, the other with modified fillet.

My understanding is that it is due to the metal hot end, rather than the route of the filament. Something to research anyway.

The Bowden tube coupling wears itself loose and can cause retraction and extrusion issues.
Can be fixed easily. Might be whats causing your issues.

Do you have the folder itself? Measure the triangular brace above the name plate. You could scale it from there from the first (green) photo. Saying that, the brace in the first photo is a different width to that in the second photo, so you would have to take that into consideration.

In the initial stages, having a good photo to copy is way more important than a size - once the artwork is done, then you can scale to any size you like.

Imagine cutting an elastic band and pushing it through the eye of a needle from the end nearest you! There is zero chance of it being possible in a Bowden feeder, my Ender is modded to have an inch or so of tube before it goes into the MicroSwiss extruder, so it does work. 240C / 0C 25mm/s and top of the enclosure open. At my TPS temperature settings (228C) it got 50% through and then blocked the nozzle.

The only place I can find new rolls is Spain and the import charges make it expensive, so I was pleased to find a used roll on Ebay.


If you mean silicone, I bought those elbows ready made from my local manufacturer. I haven't tried silicone printing yet, but I'm game!

I assumed bowden would not stand a chance. Have you got a photo of your modification?

That's what I plan to do, I would say the bracing differences is from different sized folders

I couldn't find any in UK stock, either that or the total cost became uneconomic.

It would seem that it doesn't melt, so FDM is a non starter.
