I looked at the Danarm winch with interest as Danarm were made in Stroud by TH & J Daniels which were not far from me. The name was from Daniels & Armstrong the designer. I knew a lot of people that worked there, some on the manufacture of the saws. I know of one that was built up over a period of time in the shed using “spare parts” They also produced huge presses, many still in operation all over the world I understand. All long gone now with take overs & subsequent closures, seems to be the way of the world now.Found this ,on a website about the Forestry Commission,in Scotland, back in the day.

This is what we’re using nowadays. I was meant to get a battery powered one but they were always on back order. The downside of this one is we have to drain the fuel after every use. Doesn’t get used every week and the fuel being left in them is gumming up the carbs very quickly. Powerful wee unitsFound this ,on a website about the Forestry Commission,in Scotland, back in the day.

Yea, most small petrol engined tools being compromised by the new pi* h fuel with no lifespan!
Try using Briggs & Stratton fuel saver in the petrol fuel buy online in half or full litres as it's much cheaper than a visit to B&Q etc. for a 100 ml bottle . Make up 20 litres of it at the right dose rate in the petrol in a Jerry can then if needed you can use it in a four stroke or make up a couple of litres of two stroke mix at a time in a known to be clean capped container which can be used to store any unused treated two stroke mix.
