Very pretty walk from Froggat to Birchen along the edges.
Weather was intermittently heavy drizzle and -5 wind chill, followed by a roast.
Driving out there this morning was lots of fun, stopped to offer several people assistance but they all assured us they were fine, despite appearances to the contrary.
There was a very cold wet lad in the carpark of the pub we stopped at whose quad wasn't starting that gladly accepted help...It never ceases to amaze me people who are obviously deep in the brown stuff spurn offers of help.
Similarly, how an endless procession of cars drive past a car that's broken down, but as soon as yours truly stops to offer assistance one or two will stop to help...
Living in the lakes I was always the one with a Land Rover, so when it snowed every one of my mates appeared at my house and we all went for a bimble up the back roads to coniston etc. remember one night, about 11:30pm, minus 2 and snowing hard we came across a smart car in a ditch. There was a very cold wet lad in the carpark of the pub we stopped at whose quad wasn't starting that gladly accepted help...
After a few minutes of faultfinding it turned out he had flicked it over to the reserve tank when he last used it, filled the main tank and forgotten to switch back.
His equally cold wet missus was inside warming herself by the fire, and had determined that he owed her a slap up meal to compensate for having to help him push the quad the last half a mile to the pub.
He was last seen being vague about the exact nature of the malfunction whilst assuring her it would get them home.
Fascinating documentary @Robotstar5I watched the big snow of 1982 documentary last night, I didn't realise how badly it affected this country, I had to smile at the bit about the Queen not been able to get home due to road conditions, imagine been a country pub owner when someone knocks the door and asks if you can put the monarch up for the night
At least we could dig ourselves out to go shopping, get to work etc.

Same here, I expect there to be localised flooding in the next village over and on one of the roads into Sheffield at some point this evening with all the snowmelt added to the rain.Heavy rain for the last few hours so all the snow's gone.
