If you want this, the chuck key, not the letterknife, pm me an address and I'll post it FOC. The letterknife is from one of my Grandfather's many failed business ventures. Family lore has it he was too trusting and relied on a handshake to seal contracts and got stiffed because of it.
It’s basically referred to as a no volt coil or under volt relay. A direct on line starter which is basically a relay that when you lose the supply you need to re-evaluate-energise it to use.
So roughly 1/2" inch. The older small lathes like mine and yours would have used 1/4" or 5/16" size bits in respective tool holders. To get your 4 way tool post working you would have to grind or preferably mill the shank of the bit to lower it, or use a smaller size bit with shims to bring the cutter up to centre height. If you have access to a mill, the 4 way tool holder could be modified by milling out the slots to allow 1/2" tool bits to set lower.
I'll have a look in my storage unit as I think I have some smaller bits you can have to get you started.
