Rooting about on a customers site today trying to locate a spare telecoms PSU and I came across this lying forgotten on a shelf at the back of the switch room:

Need to make a few enquires to see if I can take it home.
( It's a Trojan Minimotor, used to convert a bicycle into powered transport back in the 50's.)

I use Prolific PL2303 ones and never had a problem but maybe it depends on the PLC? I have only used Koyo PLCs but several different makes of servo drives from Samsung, Allen Bradley and Telemecanique.

I've always found FTDI based converters to work better than Prolific ones.

I found a skip full of jacketed stainless tubing today, its mostly bent and tangled but if I can rescue a length or two it'll make great welding practice. Might even build a Rubens tube

maybe they think its like the council . will come and collect the lot for free. the skip company will just refuse to take it till its cleared off and us tax payers pick up the tab

Whilst hunting in a skip tonight I got caught by a security guard, who turned out to be very pleasant and let me take the aluminium I wanted on account that I saw no security guard. Can't post the location obviously. Who said that skipdiving wasn't an adrenaline pumping sport?
