I was just thinking, the other day how far computers have progressed since my first desktop.

It had a massive 133Mhz processor the clock on my new oven probably has a bigger processor.

I was talking with someone about this, my first was something like a 20mhz 386, my latest has 8 4ghz cores and that's in less than 20 years...

I used to have quite a collection of "vintage" machines, but they were sold off when the camera bug bit. No regrets as they take up less space and actually get used

One thing I do miss is operating systems that you can work with. The new windows and the like make me cringe at the way you have to use them the way your told to use them. IMO the change began after 98SE.

I have a 286, still working in the loft. The CMOS battery is 4 x AAA batteries.
Still works.

I also have a "computer" for a Sun car tuner (krypton). That has a 5.5" floppy disc drive.

Now were did I put the discs?

I worked down the council tip sometimes and 1st thing I did was look in the skips even never finished jobs off saying i needed another fitting and went back a day later to rifle the skip eeer I mean finish the job

I've been building a field shelter to replace the one that came with the farm that succumbed to woodworm and the weather a couple o years ago. It was corrugated tin an timber. When it collapsed I cleared the site and put a concrete pad down. New one will be block covered in a combination of stone and Yorkshire boarding with a box panel roof. Left hand side will be open with galv gates and the right hand side have twp stable doors. This will be for farrowing pigs, raising chicks etc.

Anyway, I mentioned to a neighbour that I was putting in an order for tanalised timber for the roof beams and Yorkshire boarding in case he wanted some. It just so happened that he had a load of beams and boards and I can have them for next to nowt

Having coffee with a friend, she gave me this.
The first order was lost, so a replacement order was sent.
9 weeks later this arrived, the supplier said she could keep it.
I am keeping it.

Take the warning on the side seriously, those things die quicker than a mayfly if you push them. Great for instant heat, but not good for long jobs.
