As in my other thread - a set of starrett bore gauges. Not sure I can do them justice with my ham-fisted attempts at metal mangling but I’ll give it a whirl
Seem pretty good to be honest, I’ve not used them in anger yet but a quick furtle on the bench doesn’t indicate any notchiness or slop. The overall “feel” seems nice, which is always a bonus - the last set I used were a no brand cheap set and while I’m sure they did the job just fine they always felt a bit notchy and rough. Those look quite smart. Rotary encoders. After 8 years of faultless use I had a minor issue with my Kemppi 200 Evo. The Kemppi has 2 controls...one sets thickness and the other sets a trim adjustment on wire feed.
The controls are super accurate and each click changes the settings....but my thickness setting started jumping.
To get by I simply swapped the "pots" around (wire trim is less used as the synergetic setting is usually close enough)...manage to get replacements but they were hard to find. I suspect these bits have been discontinued and there is probably a new equivalent....welder is working with my quick fix so there will go into the spares cupboard.
The whole board (with pots on) was around £300 .
I've referred to them as "pots" but they aren't actually potentiometers...they are some sort of digital encoder I'm guessing which gives very precise adjustment so each click precisely adjusts the settings. So if you did 10 clicks one way and 10 clicks back you'd be back to where you started....quite clever.

Is hugging allowed?.....shame it was socially distanced!
I didn't ask... but to answer your question, I will use it as is.Is hugging allowed?
What are your plans for the vice? Paint or use 'as is'?

There is a third choice.I didn't ask... but to answer your question, I will use it as is.
I have too many vices as it is.
I was sorting through some imperial taps and dies I had been given and found this one, I assume as BSA was an engineering company they even made their own taps?.
