You know how to set it on the stand? Level it on the two corner jacks and the middle one of the three the other end, then bring the two outside jacks up so they just touch but carry no weight.

Got me some decent lathe tooling at last!
A nice Sandvik boring bar (new) with 10 spare inserts,
A Sandvik right hand tool (new) with 9 spare inserts.
An Eclipse bladed parting off tool.
£30!


A Mitutoyo dial gauge that's stuck, worth a punt at £2.


A Mitutoyo magnetic stand and gauge in really good condition with another (strange?) American gauge thrown in.
£30.
I can't have this till Christmas though as its a present....

I'll just have to find out how to mount the 4 jaw now, last time I tried I couldn't get it to fit as the bolts didn't line up.

Well I re shafted it.
Pitch pine handle, I had a bit hanging around.
Brass Rivets nabbed from a fire extinguisher.

The edge took a keen edge and I used to hack some wood to make kindling for last night fire.

Last calibrate in Aug 1979, the box is delaminating, but still holding. Almost.

So does mine, it is lovely bit of kit.
I contacted Ferodo, they still supply the wooden box's. So I have ordered one.

That vice looks identical to the one I have, pretty useless so as you say, no great loss.

3. Use it.
4. Keep it in my collection.

If you sit them in the footwell back to front you can check the rate of acceleration. A 911 Carrera 4 will max it out accelerating and braking!

Seller wanted £65, I paid £50, got home then realised forgot to ask about the vice, no loss, cheap enough on ebay.
Quill seems fine, no play even when extended, couple of bolts need tightened, apart from that I'm happy, looks like its never been used tbh
