Oh yeah. Well, that was just for starters...
What actually happened was I went to a part worn tyre place to replace the punctured/ruined tyre (on my borrowed van!) and they happen to be right next to a scrappie.
I didn't think a couple of metres of 40mm and a decent chunk of 10mm plate was such a bad buy but I really need to be in sales mode now. Bought too much just because I have a van at my disposal.

Anyway, I have a van (briefly) and I was passing my favourite scrappy so.
Fifty quid.
Sounds like a lot for some 40mm sq and a sheet of 10mm plate. The rest was "free".
I was hoping for a discount on finding the dirtiest odd sizes but I suspect he just measures it and the price is what the price says.
I guess I might have saved a bit on postage
Hang on a mo. Looking at some of the other threads with steel prices, fifty quid looks pretty good.
That 40mm square bar is typically £40 +vat per metre. He does also carry full lengths of bright steel so I deliberately dipped in the bins for these "offcuts" but I think he'll do a decent price for cash.

better keep them oiled ,it might be some time ! going by current pull yer pants down prices , Thankyou for the kind offer its much appreciated, now getting back to the original trade my bil is the exact opposite , wants to borrow my mig gas, welder and wire to do a job for a mate , oh ye he has got his own but his bottles bigger so would be soo much easier to use all my kit than his own... , I declined his kind offer

These turned up today, cost me just over £100 which seems quite expensive but the SL head alone is over £200 list price.
The insert seating is interesting.
And the underside of the inserts to match.
They are for the Aniti Vibe boring bar I got a while back for free.
Temporary coolant connection for testing before I rig up a better connection.
It works.
I am well impressed with the bar, 1mm DOC in some steel pipe.
