A large lump of steel in the shape of a Sweeney & Blocksidge Fly Press that Seriesonewelder tempted me with. It's still in the boot of the car, (got to borrow an engine hoist to get it out) as its too pigging heavy to lift. The next project is to build a stand for the wee beastie.

I was at a site clearance auction last weekend & went a bit mad!

Inside the van are.

6mm thick 5 bar aluminium tread plate, 1 of 10x5', 1 of 5x5' & 6 of 8x2' Got it all for £350 which may seem expensive but a sheet of 8x4 on its own retails at £450!

Rothenberger 20251 Tristand with a Nr 70711 up to 4" pipe vice fitted. It has holes in the top for bending pipe plus hooks for tools.

I got it for £93 but the retail on the stand alone is £495, the vice is another £325! Here it is alongside its Record cousin.

Plan is to remove the pipe vice & fit a bench vice to make a portable vice.

6 x 3m lengths of unistrut, each with 13a sockets & steel conduit attached. Once stripped it yielded me a lot of conduit & fittings, an isolator plus 10 MK double metal clad sockets & boxes.

Another delivery from my go to drills/taps & dies company. Tracey Tools.

Taps and dies are just to make up full sets of each size I have.

The drills are 14mm and 33/64" for an up coming job.
Cast iron bracket in which the hole was drilled uphill - shaft through the hole should be horizontal, but it slopes and has worn the linkage on the end.
So I need to drill out the hole to 14mm shrink fit a piece of cast iron bar and then re drill, should be drilled to 1/2""the reamed to 33/64" , but this is tooling for a one off job that will sit in the draw for ever.
The 14mm drill is 214mm long, hole is 5"long, probably a few days work, done in stages, to make sure I get it right.

The smallest size my model steam supplier had for cast iron bar was 30mm - that's going to make a hell of a mess on the lathe.

Yeah 240v, and so far so good, there's nothing fancy on it just power and wire speed adjustment but it welds spot on.

I've got one of those thermometers (or something very similar anyway). The main thing I use it for to be honest is pointing at bits of metal I've recently welded to see whether they're safe to touch yet!

Although its cute, the castings on the one I have do not appear to have been machined, so might or might not be a future rainy day project to refine.
