Glad it wasn't on yer biffin!In answer to the question of where on your arris was the boil. The boil was located at the top of my back between the shoulder blades, so nowhere remotely embarrassing chaps.

Was that on eBay?Acquired another dent in my wallet. It was a nice surprise to find out I won the bid when we arrived home from a motorcycle club function last night. I've been watching this "Fobco 10 Eight" drill press with anticipation, as it's rare to see one that looks to have had little use and appears to be in unabused condition. I previously contacted the owner and found that its at a residence rather than at an industrial site, so that added weight in influencing me to take a punt. Looks like a road trip is in order, I like a road trip.

Yes, it was on ebay. Its the largest version of the Fobco drill presses. The " 7 Eight " models usually have a 3/4 HP motor with an MT2 tapered spindle, and the " 10 Eight " model spec is for a 1 1/2 HP motor and MT3 spindle. There is more information about them and other machines on the www.lathes.co.uk website. Scroll down towards the bottom of the title page on the right hand side.

I have a 7 Eight, there were spindles available for the 10 Eight on lathes.co.uk but that was years ago

I rescued from a scrapped reeler turnover shaft at work, a 5 ft length of 5" round bar, not sure what grade but something decenteither En16 or En24. Good for making pins, anyway...

a few years ago was given a cement mixer with alll the paddles broken or missing
i rewelded the one that was in there and used it like that for a few months doing jobs round the house
son come home dad there is a cement mixer in the skip a few streets up
so we go looking yes its was carp but did have the paddle i needed so taken and the reason was skiped the motor had failed but also 1 wheel missing i still wheeled home on 1 wheel but it was hard work

Think I'd have made precision shaped long inner tubes for the cut tubes with a few drilled side holes where I could add weld then tigged it up all round and ground down the differences . Back in 1967 my future Bro in law Ged repaired my French touring bicycle that some ****** who decided to cut off the cycle lock &chain , then play silly B's with it . They'd broken the front wheel & snapped the front forks about 8 inches up from the spindle doing just that.

I purchased four 9 inchers ( £ 36 for 4 lockable swivels ) like, that welded up a foot plate & spigot then bolted the wheels to the spigot. Slipping them in the base legs of my 10 foot high X 2" galv tower scaffold & securing them in place with a welded nut & side bolt and hey presto the heavy scaff tower is now easily portable ., It's good for washing the caravan as I've a bust back & arm , cleaning the bungalows gutters & the solar PV panels l.Today I acquired some gurt castors to go on my engine test bench, the brake locks the wheel and the castor
