That was a freezing winter, I pre-date you by a couple of years and I remember being fascinated by the snow on my pram hood, when my mum put me out in the garden until I stopped cryingNice books, the year I was born as well!

Perfect if that's what you needed - but I have that in my 1935 handy mans book . . . and learnt such basic stuff at school.Useless, @bricol, really? I found this quicker than a websearch ever could:View attachment 307048
I wonder how many amps that driver bit is good forThere is literally nothing right about that plug wiring...
My other half is the same....
Hard work getting her to spend money on stuff she doesn't really need
But at least they used a manly fuse.A Philips no3? driver bit, FOC but from an unusual place needed a plug so cut one off an old motor I have kicking about. Some people shouldn't be allowed to have tools(note the polarity)!

It works for the eskimo'sJust as well she didn’t wait until you had a stiff upper lip
The motor would probably melt before that wentBut at least they used a manly fuse.

I haven't put the safety specs on her yet, not sure how best to do it as I am not keen on the fixing method. Can you share a photo of her wearing those eye-defenders, for health and safety reasons please.
Been using the crimpers today and can confirm the tester parts separates from the tools.Doe the tester separate from the handle? I have a stand alone tester and it has been great for finding problems in the workshop. I can plug one end in at my PC and take the other out to the plasma shed for example.
That makes it much more handyBeen using the crimpers today and can confirm the tester parts separates from the tools.

Both the anvil and the swage block look to be in good condition too. That's the best part of a grand between them at today's mad prices, what a lovely gesture. Our men's shed hit the oil well of good fortune today. A local chap, now retired, who ran his own business, wanted his equipment to go to a good cause rather than flogging it on eBay and seeing a buyer re-list it at a much higher price. This morning I picked up a 1.5 cwt (77 kg) anvil, a 12" square swage block (both with stands), a sizeable set of hand shears which are currently seized up and some useful offcuts of steel. Still to come: a steel cut-off saw with a 12" steel blade (currently not working), a bandsaw and a MIG welder that has been converted to run flux-cored wire. That's for collection another day. The whole lot is completely free . . . one of those occasions when words just don't do justice to the gratitude felt.

A 500 ml spray can in the background for scale. All the items are fairly rusty but over time, I'll get them looking a bit more presentable.
Gone are the days when I could cradle an anvil that weight and walk around a bit - it took two of us old farts to shift the darned thing!
Well here she is, not keen on it to be honest but it is better than £700 for a new headlight unit. Lots of roadworks going on around here at the moment and stones flying up from other vehicles is a risk. Can you share a photo of her wearing those eye-defenders, for health and safety reasons please.
