New coffee grinder.
Its a Timemore Chestnut C2, next to my old Hario one on the left. Poor old Hario has certainly seen better days; the collection bin has been smashed and glued back together twice, the ceramic burrs are so worn it takes over a minute to grind 20g of beans, turning the shaft with a cordless drill. Using the drill has also worn out one bushing and melted the other. The worn lower bushing lets the burr wobble so the grind size is very inconsistent.
The new one is all metal, hardened steel burrs turning on ball bearings, none of that bushing crap, thanks.
Really positive click when adjusting the grind size too. Best of all, the drill can go back to the garage now because I can effortlessly get through 20g of beans in 30 seconds by hand!

Acquired a new old stock Bullfinch 1-Bar propane regulator today. Just waiting for five metres of hose to arrive next week so I can use one of the torches from the job lot of stuff I acquired at a salvage shop. The torches cleaned up well, but I only need one for silver soldering; think it will be the one with the coil spring handle with the appropriate burner head, as I don't like plastic tool handles as a rule.

Seriously they were dirt cheap once on Amazon, eBay etc. Seems post Brexit prices shot up. I was looking to get one but have been told the cheapos don't last long.

Lifting something like that your lucky if all you get is old farts!Our men's shed hit the oil well of good fortune today.A local chap, now retired, who ran his own business, wanted his equipment to go to a good cause rather than flogging it on eBay and seeing a buyer re-list it at a much higher price. This morning I picked up a 1.5 cwt (77 kg) anvil, a 12" square swage block (both with stands), a sizeable set of hand shears which are currently seized up and some useful offcuts of steel. Still to come: a steel cut-off saw with a 12" steel blade (currently not working), a bandsaw and a MIG welder that has been converted to run flux-cored wire. That's for collection another day. The whole lot is completely free . . . one of those occasions when words just don't do justice to the gratitude felt.

A 500 ml spray can in the background for scale. All the items are fairly rusty but over time, I'll get them looking a bit more presentable.
Gone are the days when I could cradle an anvil that weight and walk around a bit- it took two of us old farts to shift the darned thing!
