At tea time I acquired some fire wood.

mug for scale , they were flipping heavy only just managed to get them in the van on me todd


as we can see from the cuts they were highly skilled with a chainsaw
quick story as I was leaving dinnertime to go shoot at some clays passed a house a block down with a couple of likely suspects waving a ****ty old chainsaw around and a tree in the garden , return home to see three perplexed people stood on the drive wondering what there gonna do to clear the 25' foot of path blocked with many large pieces of tree. they didn't even limb it ! just looped all the bows at around 8" to 10" dia. the trunk in three and off they went . Didn't really want to get the chainsaw and start cutting in the semi dark . so I got the big bits , may see whats there tomorrow and get some more as long as tidy up.

Why do people name vehicles?

I know a man and wife who have names for all theirs and speak about them like they’re people!

My moggy has been called Dennis for years and i will eventually put a litttle Dennis badge on, it belonged to a good man named Dennis for many years now sadly gone.

Maybe I should start providing a service, you guys send me your EU bound stuff & I smuggle it across & post it from the EU!

I'm in the south and its 3 mile to the north. Spend alot of time in North at SWMBO too. We could have a lucrative business on the go! I always get stuff delivered to UK postcode and across the border to "EU"

I named the Missus’s Vectra Stirling. She loved the name so it stuck….She thought it was it because it was silver…She was mistaken, it was because of the moss that grew on the passenger window rubbers because she didn’t wash it often enough…

Bought this floorboard vice from the forum 3 years ago.

It's sat on the shelf unused since then. Finally being taken out to the van to see some use on my current job .

I just going to keep the lump the saws on as a knocking block .

Neighbour gave me this as he hardly ever used it at work and knew I was into metal work, might not use it for a while but doesnt take up much room

A few bits, the little mini blow torch will be really handy at work for heat shrink. It’s so neat, I may take up smoking to justify buying more

I just going to keep the lump the saws on as a knocking block .

Are you going to paint the ends & edges in molten candle wax to seal the rounds ready for turning on a lathe in five or six years time.
Local wood ....I've got 8 yr old 4 inch apple branch wood , 18 month old walnut 3-4 inches thick , five year old ash , a few bits of hawthorn & 6 yr cut home grown oak all slowly air drying for lathe work . The fork of a tree can give some fantastic figuring and wood grain

Happened to go into a former " Do it all store " now called " Charlies " a couple of years ago . In the cookery section we found a cooks browning gas blow lamp for £9 . It's brilliant . Alison uses it to scorch branches on some of her bonsai trees to slowly kill off a branch so it looks like it's died & debarked naturally .
I've used it for heating 4 mm stainless wire to red hot to make a series of Long " S" hooks for hanging drying/ ripening bunches of plaited onions off the rafters in our log cabin verandah .

Take up making crème brulee instead
