Today I acquired...........

A new member of our animal family - Minnie, a four year old Romanian rescue who we brought home from Kettering yesterday. Like many dogs over there, she was found wandering the streets in a pretty bad condition: skinny, riddled with fleas etc. She's already showing she has a lovely temperament.

A couple I know got a Romanian stray. Initially I thought SCAM but you get to see the dogs at the rescue centre all running around happily (with cats there too in with them amazingly). They come over all jabbed and checked and I was impressed with the cost, only 2 or 3 hundred I think it was.

Dog is a gorgeous bitsa. Looks quite unlike the dogs we're used to over here. Not quite as unusual as Madame Cholet you've got there mind!

Someone else we know got one and it was over twice that.

I rescued this from a skip.

In the same skip was this lot.

2 smalll weights, Broard arrow stamped.
As is the screwdriver set.

I think the greeen Pussers Right angle toarch has one.

Complete with the 2 spare bulbs.

AKA Main beam lamp and low beam lamp.

Few know the spare bulbs had differant wattage.
On a set a Jankers we had some one give one off his lectures on the Tech side of The Pussers Right Angle torch.

I did my on the correct way to refuel a zippo.
I had picked that from the hat.

I hoped the beer engine was in the skip.

It wasn't.

The computer towers were looked at, but they were not worth saving.

Not today, not sure when, however the wife has discovered we have a very rare species of fungi on the farm. Its named gliophorus reginae or Jubilee wax cap to commemorate the diamond jubilee in 2012 and the 60th anniversary of her coronation in 2013 when it was first identified in Worcestershire.

She's notified the National trust as they have an ongoing Grassland Fungi project ongoing, there coming over on Monday to see what else we have. The fungus likes unimproved grasslands, i.e. no fertiliser, not drained too well, steep uplands with very little muck spreading, not intensively grazed , lots of water. Basically ancient upland meadows. Our neighbours fields are classified as SSSI (Sites of Special Scientific Interest). Probably bad if you intend to flog land for development, but we don't intend to, even if we thought it was remotely possible that we might get planning.

I suspect a lot of us will acquire that soon. We've dodged it for two years now, but I'm not optimistic now as the new one is so contagious that unless we take provisions and live somewhere as hermits for the next month or two I can't see how we'll avoid it.
