We have a Metabo grinder at work, I've known it for at least 12 years, I've changed the brushes on it once or twice. It's the best grinder I've ever used. After some DIY store cheap battery screwdrivers etc. in the old NiMH times, I waited for years to decide on a manufacturer, because I knew one thing:
I want to try to get by with only one battery system.
What I didn't like about Makita was that they are unnecessarily heavy (my opinion) and that you have to know too much about each machine, because with almost identical-looking tools, one can be hot and the other can be a flop.
Besides, I don't like the fanaticism of some true Makita believers.
It was pure luck that I decided on Metabo, which still has its headquarters in the Swabian town of Nürtingen, because a few years later Metabo and eight other manufacturers founded the CAS = Cordless Alliance System, which now includes around 25 manufacturers who all use the identical battery system.
Once something done right.
What's more, their customer service is legendary, at least here in Germany; you wouldn't expect so much generosity from Swabians ...
How widespread is Metabo among you? Do you know them at all?

Don't rub it in.Filtering? What is that? Oh that thing when you run between rows of cars, we don't have that many cars in one place up this way
I think if Milwaukee had a tool truck it would be worse than the strap on van.I am an Agricultural Engineer, I bought my first cordless gun, when ,they were ni cad, had a,Snap On 1/2" , 3/8" guns and a cordless drill. With 3 different battery platforms . I went for Milwaukee, as I could get everything on , the M18 battery .
Now have, 3/8,1/2 , 3/4 impact guns, 2 x 1/2 drills, 4&1/2 grinder , die grinder, reciprocating saw, tower floodlight, small floodlight, grease gun, vacuum cleaner, that also blows air(ideal for cleaning around sensors etc) and 8 x 5amp batteries.
Needed a right angle drill, so I went for an M12 model as it was a bit more compact. So then bought the soldering iron.
Next on purchase list is all M12, heat gun for doing heatshrink, 90degree die grinder and 3/8 gun that does almost 400nms.
It is not addictive lol!
It,'s not !
I know what you mean about the van. It is bad enough, when McGregor Industrial, have the power tool artic, at their open days at Inverness, or the Black isle show.I think if Milwaukee had a tool truck it would be worse than the strap on van.
I really like their gear. It’s not all perfect and I only buy what I need or think is worth it, but it is very well thought out. The grease gun is a good tool. As is the soldering iron. Which vacuum do you have? I like the blow idea
Once you’ve a decent amount of batteries you can just buy naked tools so it’s not too bad, price wise.On the black friday deals I purchased my first Milwaukee gear.
Always used to be snap on for 10 years.
Then converted to dewalt 18v,
And now gone over to Milwaukee for the m12 range.
Reason of which is I like the range of tools. I wont buy at full price but got the stubby 3/8 fuel gun package with 2 batteries and charger. And the 3/8 ratchet with 1 battery and charger.
£150 + £108.
It's been used today for the first time and probably will use the ratchet more than the impact gun.
Will still keep dewalt 18v for the time being.
It’s the flux capacitor that stops impulse buying of toolsDo you have to swallow 1 or 2 to resist buying a new tool? Parallel or series?
