Thanks to having to take two furosemides each morning I have to have at least four pint pees each morning within three hours of taking them to enjoy a bit of normality later in the day .

Today I chanced things and was out the house after less than an hour of having the tablets to go shopping with my lass ( with 3x 3 inch wide necked empty ) sports bottles handy in the car as normal just incase things got desperate between home & the nearest shop with a loo for public use. Almost made it to the veg & fruit wholesalers when furosemide called desperately , pulled over asap when safe and had an eyewatering session of utter relief . back to the helicopter and onwards to the wholesalers. fully saited with fruit & veg for the coming week off we went to the next port of call some three miles away .

Wahghhhh I'm now sitting on my electric wheelchair when frusemide shouts at me ....... only just made it this time.
Alison is getting chuntery to say the least ( menopausal flushes & all that lady lady stuff ) as we finish the first isle she gets arsey because I can't hear what she's saying above the noise of the fans in the chillers , so she says to me " I don't need this isle or the next one ... see if there is anything down here that you want & I'll meet you by the wines & beers near the checkouts".

I found a small set of the cheap titanium plated drills , ideal price to replace some well used smaller drills that have shrunk due to regrinds over the years, then a small box .

" Everything will come to those who wait " I was told as a kiddy ... I'm a believer honest

I struggled like hell to get the little box off the gondola and on to my wheelchair , till a kindly soul from upon high gave me the strength for a few seconds & helped me .

Totally knackered, off I went looking for Al , with a smile like a big slice of watermelon on my chops.

Al was indeed close to the tills, when she saw what I'd got she burst out laughing (menopausal grump gone as quick as it had appeared).
" I wish you'd have waited till next month so I can get the £25 discount voucher " she beamed.
" But then it's likely it wouldn't be here judging by the number times we've looked for & not found any these last three years."

22 kg is not light weight as per No 2 on the box, but that seems to have reduced to about 19 kg once I took the leads & bits out .

The training thing is not what I was hoping for.

Had to get Alison to type in the address for it kept giving me 404 and also a few times for Alison as well
Eventually " www.cmc-creative.de/training/ " worked ... it's a dismal set of videos despite our having superfast broadband, it took a lot of fits & starts to get them to load and play. There is not a lot of hands-on stuff in it, The safety stuff video is basic & sound.

Click on the picture that shows your model number and " en " at the left side of the picture to get instruction in English .

It's mainly how to get it out the box stuff, no one actually speaking with helpful tips when setting it for internal air setting or anything about speed of cut or such technical working.
You'll have to go back to the manual and hope you remember enough of it (age related memory loss not included) , so keep a copy of the handbook handy or copy and heat seal it in plastic envelopes sheet by sheet to keep it clean and handy in the work place. (I've been practicing this enveloping the manuals for the last 35 years; it pays dividends in the long run).

Pleased to see that it has 3 yr warrantee at the shop you purchased it from, so keeping the till receipt is essential as is writing the purchase date on the manual's front cover and gently peeling the specification sticker off and sticking it on to the rear page of the manual, which is blank, instead of leaving it on the machine to become illegible in 2 yrs time.

Now it's going to be back to rereading the manual half a dozen times or more before I actually have a play at cutting on Monday or perhaps even Tuesday as other parts of my life will intrude and stop me getting on with it.

My victora is a simple fixed axis one. Nowhere near as fancy as that

I'm still using most of a Kamasa set of 1/2, 3/8 and 1/4 drive that I bought aged 17 - 35yrs ago. The original ratchets died a long time ago, but the replacement Kamasa branded one with a plastic body, metal top and bottom plates, that I bought a couple years after the set, despite my low expectations is still going strong.

Air impact gun has mostly replaced use of the two hammer impact drives I have - the boxes sit on the shelf, I know where they are so I can borrow the bits every now and again.

The extension bar was the perfect size to support the back of a relatively thin tapped bracket I didn't want to bend on a 70 year old dynamo.

I do use battery impact guns on nuts & bolts, but prefer finer control on screw heads so use the hammer impact or the air hammer impact tool

At the risk of boring you with my drill press story ..
The Jacobs 16 chuck on my 35 yr old NU TOOL drill press has been used many thousands of times, so much that the holes for the spigot on the hardened chuck key has worn out all the holes it fits in to a as they have all gone ovalid, this last year it was a total PIA having to hold the key in tight with my left hand and try to tighten it up with my right at each hole without it riding out.

So today I stripped out a fire damaged Machine Mart drill press I've had partly stripped down out in the mancupboard for five or more years, only problem was I had no means of taking the Jacobs taper & the chuck apart.

Had a brain wave, I have an excess of old Whitworth DEOJ spanners in big sizes, so I used a flap disc & ground one down to make a double legged wedge removal tool, quick tap with a pound hammer and it popped apart.
Went to do the actual drill press removal and found the modified spanner I had was far too thin for the different older quill shaft/ chuck gap. So, I modified a thicker spanner and removed it with ease.
Popped the newer chuck on and tapped it home with a brass hammer to get it well & truly seated.

My, what a difference, I'd forgotten what it was like to have a decent chuck on the drill press.

I'm keeping the quill shaft.
As I'm hoping to make a grinder spindle to fit the QCTP so I can precision grind stuff on the lathe or use it as a double bearing'ed buffing wheel shaft for I also rediscovered a 240 DC volt motor c/w the transformer board and controller board off an exercising machine (Working machine off Freecycle 6 yrs ago) in the same box of things as the burnt drill press.

I still have a Black Diamond harness in the loft somewhere... the film 'Cliffhanger' caused the makers some grumbling because it was one of their harnesses shown 'fraying' apart in the opening scene.

I still have my Kamasa 3/8 set I must have bought in the 80's and the 1/2" Kamasa set I bought before I got married 1983! 1/2" ratchet is a bit iffy sometimes, but it has had some lengths of pipe on the end to undo gearbox nuts and alternator rotor bolts.

Yes, thanks for that. I did the same as you and found the same thing, but I don't think it's right. The curve on the jaw suggests to me it's for holding a webbing strap and rolling the tool to apply tension. But hey, I asked the question because I'm not sure..........

I have 1/2" drive metric set in a metal case and a separate 3/8" and 1/4" drive Kamasa set in a fabric case with a now broken zip and the ratchets in both sets went wonky but the sockets are top notch. I have a Britool 1/2" ratchet, Facom 3/8" drive and a Stahlwille 1/4" drive all bought as replacements. I lost the 8mm 1/4" drive socket and replaced it with a cheap ebay one. Mine are more like 50 years old.
