I even had to set the points, set the dwel and time it.

Yes, I've got one (well, two) - last used on a Lotus Elan S3 a mate was putting back together.

Until I bought a British car, I never needed one - everything I'd owned before was French or Italian from mid-70's vintage with electronic ignition - not a great deal to do once it was mechanically timed.

Most of my motors are at least 30 years old so its useful yo have a strobe light and not tested the Sun branded CO machine i got yet but that will come in handy

A Scheppach plunge saw. It worked when I pulled the trigger the first couple of times but not again. The fuse is good so it either the cable or a microswitch I reckon.

A length of mooring rope, I just need to save up for a bigger boat. It's about 75-100mm diameter.

A roller shutter cover for a pick up, I don't know which vehicle, it might get used vertically on an outside storage box.

New osprey bag for future trips , I like to think the snap on equivalent of bags , holds value second hand and lifetime warranty if any thing breaks or even I rip it can send it back to them and they will repair or patch etc.

Fancy tech in the back with a stretched mesh to keep bag off your back allow it to breathe and comfort with no stuff digging into spine

Bosch motors used to - perhaps still do - have a habit of breaking the stator windings. What I found was that the ends of the stator winding had been pulled taut to the anchor posts where they were crimped to the leadout wires. Then heat, or perhaps impact (caused, I suspected, by people slapping the pad on a hand sander, or putting a multitool down hard) would then snap the winding.
Usually the break could be seen, so if you passed the broken end back around the winding you could free up enough spare to strip and reterminate it, one lost winding turn making no perceptible difference to the operation of it.

Nah, wasted spark doesn't cause any issues with a timing gun, you're only interested in cyl 1 but you get a spark at 1 and 4 at same time
I only used timing guns for setting up standalone ecus.

It's a bit better than my old timing light,@Olderisbetter's timing light switches between 2/4cycle so at least the rpm function will read correctly on wasted spark.

Thank you. It's a Scheppach PL55. I've taken the stator out and it's missing one of the plastic shields that stop the rotor touching the stator windings. It looks like this:

I've found one supplier, Probois Machinoutils, but they didn't like the postcode I put in. It might be something simple as not putting the space between the triplets. That's a job for later.
