I think the red bit in the bottom is an auto drain. On my water trap, there is a float inside, if the water builds up the float lifts & drains it.

You certainly got some bargains there!

I recently got some cast iron seat frames, they need to be re rusted.
My plan is to set up a de rusting at the Men in sheds.

The tanks were quickly knocked up in scrap wood. But I needed some plastic lining.

I asked at one site I was working on if I could have some off cuts.

I got some.

I had one of those safes, battery flat, key lost, googled for help and then got it open in less time than it took to type this......just saying.

Those 'safes' - that's almost funny actually - can be opened with nothing more than a firm handheld object in a similar amount of time to that required by a reasonable typist to type this. They are really that insecure.

I can never understand how they can sell them as safes when you can just pick them up and walk off with one, in my book it not a safe until you need machinery and plant to be able to move it.

In fairness to them they do have the holes drilled through for you to fix to a wall/floor etc.
It's the fact that they can be opened in seconds without tools that gets me...

When I joined this company in '93 there was a safe in a corner of the office; as it was about 2 feet tall, the same wide and about 18" deep I assumed it held the payroll, the one company mobile phone and the floppies for the 386 computer
After about a year I enquired as to its actual purpose and was told that although the sticker on it had the combination, there was no key. Tipping it up produced a rattling noise which was presumed to be a spare key inside the safe
One lunchtime I set about picking the lock. It took me a good while but eventually we worked out that the electronic lock blocked the key from turning. If we put the code in we could hear a solenoid retract so we knew the idea was to put the code in and turn the key within about 4 seconds.
Once I'd worked out the sequence for depressing the lock tumblers I was able to pick it with in the 4 seconds; we got the door open and the rattle turned out to be a small tin tray . I dismantled the door, got the lock cylinder out and rebuilt it so that the tumblers matched a random key we found (I think I left one tumbler out).
The safe was never used and when we moved premises in 2000 it was heaved into a skip

Should have chucked a few reams of paper inside, locked it then chucked it on ebay as a locked safe, they always seem to attract the wannabe Indiana Jones'

About 15 years ago a distant relative bought an ex post office at auction to convert to a new home and sell on. A couple of days later he visits to find the place broken into and the old safe half way down the corridor on its way to the back door no mean feat given that model is 414kg. The guy comes to the conclusion that all that effort must mean that there was money in it so having no lifting gear and only a flat bed Mercedes truck at the time we were the obvious choice to get it moved the 20 miles to his home. Rollers, planks, pry bars, cheap come along winch and several hours later we had it moved.

It cost him nearly a grand for a safecracker (all above board and in police presence) to open in up to find absolutely nothing not even a spare key . The clue should have been the fact that the ex postmaster did a moonlight flit and as far as I know has never been seen again...

Anyway the locks got changed and the safe put into the back of an old outbuilding. Ten years later we moved that same safe back to a pub not 10m away from the old post office!. When the pub closed a few years later we were asked to remove the safe so it could be scrapped . I took pitty on it and rehomed it myself. I've not actually got anything to put in it other than spare car keys but couldn't see that old safe be scrapped after all the blood sweat and tears spent moving it.

Myself while shopfitting was called to one of the shops to find one of the safes was open with a key stuck in the lock... they had managed to open the safe but could nt get the key out. An easy task as it was open, and access to the cover on the back of the door. Turned out the key was for the other safe [sat next to it]

I got roped in to helping to move a safe that IT used to store server backups. The safe, which was 4' square and stood 6' high, was in a standalone brick built building in the car park.
We used crow bars and alot of swearing to get it up onto some scaffold poles as rollers and then 4 of us put our shoulders to it, the problem was we were a bit too enthusiastic with our shove...

...the safe shot across the room, came off the rollers just before the wall and the top tilted over and smacked the wall knocking a whole course of bricks half out the wall.

I swiftly determined that my help was no longer needed and made a quick exit!

Reminds me of something that happened at my school, a guy was running down the corridor, tripped, fell straight into a partition wall and went through into the classroom next door. I seem to remember he did it on purpose... There's some strange folk up Buxton way

Two hammer heads, one is a Brades 1 1/2 lb, the other has an obscured makers mark, and this weird backwards 2 where the weight usually goes. Feels about 12oz. Any clues?

A good guess but actually a Welsh "Barry Bass" from what her last owner told me. The cuddy's a bit shorter but very nice lines. 16' with a 5' beam.
