I did get the way grinder then I was offered this for nowt if I got it out very tempting as my little Blanchard need motor rewind
Machine movers wanted £3500 to get it out to the door which scared liquidation company
Took a pal and myself 45mins with my £25 vevor skates

On top of free coffee she shop owner rumaghed and gave me this small bundle.

I tried a test/play at 45-deg - & noted that when clamping the moving jaw has a tendency to "push" the workpiece and move it as you tighten.
All I can think of (where the cut measurement has to be spot on), is to use one of my Kennedy Clamps and clamping the piece to the bed to prevent the "push" before doing the vice up? (Or possibly use Clamps on the fixed jaw itself instead of the moving jaw?)

Set the fixed jaw to 45, clamp the moving jaw against it & tighten the pivot bolt on it. That will help stop the material moving when you are tightening the jaws.

I got this a couple of days ago. Cheap and it shows. The yellow trace in the second pic shows it has artefacts on the square wave. The blue trace is from a kit I built that only shows that wave form!

Set the fixed jaw to 45, clamp the moving jaw against it & tighten the pivot bolt on it. That will help stop the material moving when you are tightening the jaws.

Problem with that- is that the pivot bolt goes thru the bed into the moving section of the Acme Screw - so if I tighten it, I clamp it in place so it can't move!
Maybe my saw is missing something - or as it's older is a bit different?
(Pic below you can see the moving jaw - the bolt goes straight thru as stated. I've also added the tool tray made from a bit of Galv Sheet I have.

Something wrong there, it should still move when you tighten the bolt!

I think maybe there should be (or I can add) an insert on top of the Acme threaded part, that sits in the channel for the moving jaw. This (if a fraction proud of the bed) would the Jaw to be tightened as you suggest, without it locking the travel.
Shouldn't be too hard to make - esp. If I'm lucky and have something the right thickness lying about.

The acme threaded boss on mine is a t shape that sits in the slot, slightly proud of the bed. Shouldn't be hard to make a spacer & braze it to the original boss.

I've never brazed anything - don't have any brazing kit either.
That said - if the insert is sat in the channel, and has the moving Jaw bolt going thru it into the Boss - then it can't really go anywhere anyway, can it?
