Northern gas are laying new pipes at the bottom of the hill, closing the road for about 3 weeks. Which means deliveries are going to be a PITA, so I got some in early

Some signwriting paint, and neatsfoot oil for the posh brushes.

A 8mm steel plate to mount the new motor for the mill, and a 6mm ali plate for the cold plate VFD and heatsink with thermal paste.

Some XCP rust prevention spray supposed to withstand salt spray on bikes and not be too sticky. This is for shiney bits of mill and lathe that aren't covered in oil.

Another QCTP tool holder, this time a 250-005 which has an MT2 hole in it.

The drills a bit big for the lathe, but it's the first MT2 drill that came to hand.

A clamp type knurler. I am a knurling virgin, I feel I need to knurl.

And the main event, a sack of malt for this weekends brewing session.

New Tuffsaws blade arrived half-hour ago.
Popped it on, adjusted the non-drive wheel to get it running on the pulleys like it should (I think), test cut, tweaked the guides, and TA-DAAH!
A nice, clean, square cut (& with less time and nasty noises than the old blade).
Also knocked up and fitted a spacer for the moving jaw (out of a piece of I think brass Angle, which I'm not sure where I got from).
Just need to change the EP wrm drive oil for the proper SAE90 (which also arrived today)

That chimney seems to suit better, but I prefer the colour of the other, its more honest (totally not been selling stuff at vintage sales recently, been getting my patter down!)

I acquired a prick in my index finger tip ( left hand ) , courtesy of a Stanley knife blade I'd just wiped several times each side on my Arkans stone , it happened as I was putting it back in it's protective wooden box ...... made me jump I can tell you . A few seconds later there was blood dripping profusely over my lhand ( I'm on blood thinners ) . Puzzled about the amount I shook my hand and there was nothing coming from the tip of my index finger . The guilty suspect was a very gentle 1 & 1/4 " long tangential slice akin to a four ounce bass's gill , from the knuckle joint to the finger tip up the side of the finger it's nigh on 1/3 of and inch deep too . I must have caught the blade as I withdrew my hand whn I punctured the index finger .


Dam thing is still leaking slightly 24 hrs. later on . It's annoying to find as you get older you skin starts to be as thick as clingfilm

I've never brazed anything - don't have any brazing kit either.
That said - if the insert is sat in the channel, and has the moving Jaw bolt going thru it into the Boss - then it can't really go anywhere anyway, can it?

Not as bad as you - I only aquired a slightly sore thumb with a slightly bruised nail (grinding out more of the chassis on my disintegrating LDV, and the die grinder kicked and smacked my thumb into a bolt head.
I'm not enjoying more hours trying to prevent (slow) the thing dissolving - and I'm steadily (rapidly) losing the battle.

I thought superglue was developed for cuts like yours? Maybe get out the Loctite?

I need to try and get hold of a couple. I reckon the con-rods with the caps off would make some stonking table legs

Having re-launched my home foundry I went searching for my sand moulding tools - I had a large quantity - but it seems that I've given them all away sadly ! So I've been searching on eBay and recently bought two batches which arrived over the last couple of days.

Quite a comprehensive set in all including many fettling tools for moulds where the pattern has been withdrawn leaving scars along with the usual gate cutting and smoothing tools. Quite happy as the winning price was reasonable (I was the only bidder in each case thankfully.

Batch #2 arrived in a flimsy cardboard box with a hole in its side, but I don't think anything has gone astray
