Today went to the local Lidl again
To buy a tool ,not a mainline or battery powered one ,cause the faulty one bought recently.
I've bought a threaded inserts riveter and a 2" Swedish type pipe wrench .
Hopefully next week I'll buy their cordless grinder (brushless) 125mm
There's also the 2x20V 230mm one .
I'm tempted but it's maybe just compulsory shopping.
I'm not sure if I've never ever needed one so I'll resist and just take the 125mm .
Mom's starting to get tired of me taking tools at home

Just what I was thinking when I discovered it in a skip. I plan to build a target cabinet for air gun shooting. A couple of layers ought to be plenty to stop pellets from a sub 12 ft lb air rifle. I've already tested rubber backed carpet tiles, which only needed three layers.

I think you may find 1 layer will suffice , wait till you try and cut it . Mind saying that the stuff at the club is about 14- 16mm thick

I've cut conveyer material before using a Skillsaw with the blade mounted backward. The trick is to go shallow and slow not letting the blade get hot.
I just watched a YouTube video ( got to love em ) on a knife technique where you pull up on one side of the belt which helps the knife zip right along, so will try that first.

A pile of aluminium chequer plate cut to size, free from a mate.

I had completely forgotten about it. It took me a couple of hours to remember what it was for. I asked for it last July, it's to make "square wheel" theft deterrents for my camping trailer, plus give me something to practise TIG on.

However I've changed my mind on the square wheels, mainly as it would clash with the mud guards.

But, I already have another use for it

Mrs Robo was looking for an LED lamp to use at the stables and found this one, but as she has trouble with metric measurements asked me to convert it to inches, turns out it was not what she wanted, but I got her to buy it for me as I had been looking for something like that for a while.

What a versatile little lamp it is, rotates on a magnetic base which has a hinged side so it can be clipped on, the LED "window" even has a luminous edge so you can find it in the dark.

IIRC it's 750W here at the most, but we go with the Yanks's limit ...... - except 25W on 6m which is a very sensitve matter here, because shared with the military on a secondary basis and the band is too magic to get thrown out!

But transmitting power is not the issue - as you know - sensitivity and selectivity in reception is the key

as much as she might reject the idea at first... what about one of those lights which clips onto your head?

sounds daft.. but means she has her hands free all the time and shines where she needs it


my sister and niece used to use them for mucking out hrses in the dark, said it was much better than a torch/lantern :-)

You don't want a digital display at that point, just the cross-hand instrument gives you the ratio you're interested in without your brain having to process individual precise values first that aren't of interest at that moment.

Attempts to equip vehicles with a digital speedometer and rev counter have also led to nothing - I had this in a way with my Citroen DS and CX - it gives the impression of an accuracy that nobody needs and individual values that only disturb and distract.
