Cengar air saw with lots of spare blades and box. Does anyone know if the wrinkle finish is how on the handle is how it was originally? Going to give it a restore.

Looks like a nice heavy-duty tool. I don't know if the wrinkle finish on the handle is original or not, but here's a link to a brochure about a current model that looks quite similar, at least externally:

Today I acquired....a clean car. First wash this year due to weather & lassitude. Still not bad for approaching 20 years old. Next week's forecast is for temps of -8 > -10 degrees C with the possibility of some snow locally, I'm not getting my sleeves rolled up in that.

Did it today while waiting for the chap to arrive to fix the loose coping on the shed after storm Otto passed through, luckily that was all the damage I sustained.

The air saw makers might refurbish the paint for a small fee if you strip it off.

First PP (p*55*d purchase) for quite a while.

I must have had more ale than I realised when out in London on Wednesday evening. I made the classic error of buying something boring (not tool related) on Amazon when I got back to the B&B and saw this.

I have bought a few tiling related accessories recently, so they thought I needed an 8" sucker.

Being a sucker, I bought it thinking it would come in handy for pulling a dent out of the car as well as putting up the 300 x 600 tiles. Well, the dent is only 4" across......

Then I bought the 3D self levelling laser......

I got a battered grey bag via the postie this afternoon , chuffed with it ..it works once I put batteries in it.

The remote start stop key fob control to start my diesel oil heater out in the mancupboard decided to go on strike .
I kept getting an E2 fault code = battery /power supply problems ?
So I checked everything out with my meter , everything was showing OK .

Conclusion :-
Something either in the control unit for the burner or the key fob jammed & stayed locked up in it's last mode of switching off via the key fob for some reason , making it impossible to operate the heater. It could be that my wife mistook the controller and tried to open the mancupboard's roller door with the heaters control fob as they look similar if you're not familiar with them .


De-powering the unit for 20 min didn't work . Next step was to take the batteries out of the key fob as well as de- powering the heater again .

Gave the battery contact surfaces a clean and reassembled the key fob ( a bit fiddly ) and turned it on via the remoter control .

If I hadn't got the magnifier & light I
I reckon I'd have been stuck up stream without a paddle , without the magnifier set up . With it , I could even see the micro burs on the cross head slots of the fob's case securing screws.

It's something I can truly say is a good investment of £7 or so for me .

Have sent a few cengar saws back for a service over the years (my employer uses them offshore and they take a beating). Last few times (admittedly a few years back) they got a service and a coat of paint for around £100.

I've been after one of these for a few years and finally found one at a good price. It's the same SSR-G spec as mine too!

The wife has been taking note of what I do, she picked up these that had been left out for scrap. I guess the seat base is off a heavy plant item.

I got an old sewing machine like that from a damp shed, the motor was shagged, but luckily I had a spare in my junk, bit of an oil up and it goes fine.
Quite handy I'm told ( by the domestic authorities) as it does zigzag stitching..

My wife despairs of me at times, she‘s been on about a new tele as the one we’ve got is 32” she reckons it a bit small. Went out for a walk a week or so back & saw a 42” Panasonic tv on the end of someone’s drive with a note on marked “free”. I thought “that will do“ & got the car & we now have a 42” tele, works well, good picture. My wife said “don’t you dare tell anyone you picked up a tele off the side of the road” but I’m not proud, who cares. She said the same when I made a nameplate for the gate from the lid of an oak toilet seat, ”don’t tell anyone where the woods from”

I ended up rescuing quite a few of the older singer hand machines, I got them all going as they're simple enough.. and I kind of felt sorry for them!
They're a great piece of machinery tho, and still good 100 years on..
