Are you anywhere near me? I have a SIP 50L dust collector with 4" hoses if you want it? £25 for the lot.Errr, use it outside?
I set it up outside the other day to test it and just managed to get that little piece of wood planed before it started raining and had to decamp.
I've been looking at cyclone attachments for vacuums. Dust extractors seem to sell very cheaply on Facebook marketplace too but it's all extra space, running costs and unwanted noise isn't it? It's also suspicious just how many dust extractors are for sale. They must be expensive to run, annoying or something else the way they seem to fall out of favour and get sold for very little.
I'm getting a woodwork shed at the bottom of the garden. Some of my non sparky sheet metal tools might end up there too. Everything has come to a halt in the garage as I've ran out of space.
Once the shed is up, I will form a plan.

I picked up about a dozen odds and ends on our trip to the Liberty Tool Company on Sunday. A few items might be worth posting.
For starters, here's a vintage J. T. Slocomb 1-to-2-inch micrometer. I paid $8.50 for it, and other than some worn paint, it was in near-mint condition. It was smooth and snug all the way through its range, and the clever little thread wear compensator feature (which I think was their 1896 patent), was still on its original setting, with no play in the threads.
I carefully cleaned, stripped, and repainted it, then lubed it and checked it against a 1" gauge block at stabilized room temperature. It was still right on the money, so no need to get out the little spanner wrench to adjust it. I'm not sure of its age, but from a few catalogs I found, I 'think' it was probably made somewhere between 1903 and 1914. It also has their friction-stop feature to limit the pressure that can be applied to the anvil or work.

Its my birthday and mates got me the same CB i had when i was an early teen, it wasthe first legal UK fm one i owned, still boxed and looks like new.

I may have acquired one of these, or similar. its a small hydraulic power pack typically used on scissor lifts etc. My aim is to use it for a workshop press. It has a 1hp 3 phase motor on it, I have 3 phase so that's not an issue. Apart from that, I know nothing, the Edmolift site is very light on manuals, there's a couple of brochures but nothing technical. I'll do a it bit more googling on it. I don't think it has the orange controls shown in the picture below, so I was looking for the pinouts of connector X0 shown on page 6 of this or I could just buy one, they have foot switches too, see page 12. The power packs are listed as spare parts on page 13 but that's about it. I may know more when I pick it up tomorrow.

Not me personally but fathers is clearing one of his farmer freinds workshop locally and scored a nice 3/4” drive metric socket set yesterday. He has a couple of loaded trailers out of it and there’s gonna be a few things father said I can list on here to see if any of you guy and galls are interest in anything.

I don't know what I'd do without a vehicle, as our 'old house' project is out in the sticks...six miles from the nearest petrol station, ten miles to the nearest supermarket, and zero bus or train connections on that road. It's either drive or hitch-hike...or take a very long walk. Not to mention that I've had to transport countless truckloads of materials back and forth for the home restoration work. Even our residence in Brunswick is not very close to the bus routes. I suppose that if we lost our automotive mobility, it would prompt quite an extreme lifestyle change, and we'd probably have to sell our house and buy in an 'accessible' location, and that's assuming that we would still be ambulatory. I can't complain about our health so far (touch wood), but since we left three score and ten behind in the rear view mirror a while ago, it's a thought that crosses our minds now and then.

I was planning to get a "cheap" 200 euros rebir Morse taper 2 drill (picture above), and build a line boring rig (we never know I might need it )
Happened to find one of those Fein on the bay ,by looking at the auctions (I seriously need to take a break from them) so I've digit "Fein DSK" and appeared this and other ones .
Italian seller ,read the description,eBay buyer protection, offered a lower price than what demanding , accepted and bought .
Little sad it's not a Fein BOS 32-4 (4 gears version) but it's my first Fein
It has few scratches do to its age ,
It came with the original box,the user manual, another paper I still have to find the Time to understand what's right on (German) ,the "auxiliary" handle (there's no way I'll use it handheld) ,a blue plug , and a very nice AMF Morse taper 2 wedge .
Very well packaged with lots of paper and air bags (not pluryball)
Still have to try it but it looks everything in order .
Now I'm imagining how to build the boring support , maybe using induction hardened Chrome bars ...
But still have to decide various particulars ,like type of flanges , bearing supports , travel length etc .
I'm also considering the idea to buy the original BUX magnetic base where the drill was usually mounted on.
